There is no "more important." Without the tank the healer dies, and without the healer the tank dies. Trying to say which is more important would be like asking, "Which is more important, the blood in your veins or the heart that pumps the blood?" You just can't separate the two.

Who is more important?
The maintank,
the dps
or the maintank healer?
Fixed.
Also, they're equally important, as Tiwuno stated. Without the DPS the healer will run out of mana before the boss dies and/or it would take so long that people would be bored to death - or hit the enragetimer.

I'm actually of the mind that there are four roles to perform in any given instance/raid:
Tank
Healer
DPS
CC
Most people ignore the CC role because there are no pure crowd control classes; the duty is passed to either DPS or Healer, depending on the situation.
Regardless, there is both truth and untruth in the statement, "Tanks, Healers, and DPS are equally important in a raid."
Without a Tank, the boss or mobs will run amokk and quickly kill the Healers and DPS.
If the Healer dies, the Tank will likely only live so long, or have to sacrifice some of its threat to heal itself, which will probably result in the Tank dropping, and then see scenario one.
DPS is a slightly different case, because the ratio of DPS to Tanks and Healers in a given raid is going to be roughly 3:1 (slightly higher in DPS on 40-man raids). Losing a DPSer or two doesn't automatically mean death for a raid, but it definitely makes things more difficult - and on bosses that enrage, it can spell a wipe.
Obviously, common sense says that a successful raid is made up of the right combination of classes to fill those 3(4) roles - and in that sense, they are all equally important to a raid. However, the loss of the latter role - DPS - is somewhat more easily soaked than the loss of either the Tank or the Healer.

As far as the mechanics of any instance are concerned, Tank/DPS/Healers are all equally important. (All else being equal.) In practical application, there are fewer tanks and healers available than DPS, so one could consider the tank or healer more "important" for the group if you look at it that way.
Also, it's easier for a group to "carry" a sub-par DPSer through an instance and clear it than it is to do the same if the tank or healer doesn't perform like they should. I've witness exceptions to this; once, with a paladin healer who had less-than-ideal stats for healing heroics (but we cleared it with only a couple of wipes), and my first experience tanking Magister's Terrace, being horribly undergeared and having never completed a 70 instance before that. In that case, the excellent healer and CC/DPS carried me a like a sack lunch, and we had a lot of wipes on the trash pulls (yet, oddly enough, we didn't wipe on any of the boss fights). In that scenario, you could say the tank was the least important member of the group.

the Feral Drood is the most important. lol who else can effectively tank(MT or OT), top the DPS chart and heal(nurturing instinct)? lol just saying when i run heroics as "dps" i more often then not top dps charts (or close 2nd) do 100k+ healing and oT many mobs or MT if ours dies. in raids idk i MT almost everything.
