Any reasons not to roll a death knight?

I'm a bit concerned that on release of WotLK all we'll see is death knights. Basically, i'm struggling to see a reason not to roll DK. As melee dps they'll have to be at least as capable as say a dps warrior, as a tank ok maybe they might not be quite as good at tanking single melee bosses as a warrior (apparently DK's main tanking place is magic dealing enemies) but they'll have to be pretty capable, and in pvp they'll have to be useful or people will be #$%^ed off with blizz. The idea behind DK's is to address the shortage of tanks but i can see 95% of DK's just wanting to be dps anyway.
The main point i wanted to make, however, is that if you're wanting to reroll after wotlk, then why would you choose anything but DK? You get to miss 55 levels, you get a mount for free and you get a char which is useful if you want to tank, pve dps or pvp.

which is why blizz say you can only make one deathknight per server on each account atm. all i know, this is one of the first things im gonna do when i get wotlk.

I think the best reason to NOT roll a Death Knight would be for the simple fact that: Everyone else is. I don't know if it'll last for very long, but at least for the first few weeks (maybe months), you'll see maybe one or two 55s and above on the whole of Azeroth and Eastern Kingdoms. The rest will be Death Knighting it up over in Northrend.

I don't think DK's are being introduced to fill tanking role.
I think blizzard decided to add a hero class, and DK is what they chose. Obviously they could have chosen healer-friendly class (well maybe not obviously, but I'm sure there are some healer-hero classes, right?).
And there's a good reason why you don't see as many tanks and healers as dps. Questing is geared toward dps classes. Yes, some bombing quests can be done by healers just as well as s3-warlocks. But have you tried doing killing quests on the island as a healer or a tank? I tried as both and the s3 locks own your @ss.
So even when I was grinding rep, I just didn't do those quests, just paid my 10g for some rep each day, did the flying quests, and that was the end of it.
Besides practical aspect of the game such as daily-quests, most people just don't feel like taking on responsibility of being a healer or a tank. You can't just smack whatever buttons you feel like when you're tanking or healing, but as dps even if you come below the tank on meter chances are no one is going to say a word. But for goodness sake if a mage is dpsing the wrong mob and pulls him off a tank, now tank is 'noob' for not holding agro and healer is 'noob' for not healing that mage.
And than some people find healing and/or tanking boring, because you just don't see the big numbers. I tried getting excited to see 7k heals, but it just didn't do it for me, honestly.
All I ask, is next time you're in a group and a DPS pulls agro - check if that mob was the one that was supposed to go down first, and if not tell the dps to learn to dps the right target.
In my opinion, the way to get more tanks and healers, is by lowering the quality of PvP gear vs. the PvE gear. PvP does not cater to tanks at all, and healing-specs are not prefered either (Disc prist for once wouldn't be healing a raid). PvP is also much easier to get, just based on the number of players you have to assemble 5 vs 25.
Another way to have more tanks/healers is to make some daily group quests requiring both a healer and a tank, and maybe just 1 or 0 dps, and give better rewards than single-player-quests.

If you want to reroll with WotLK, why not start now? Then you'll be lvl 70 when WotLK is going live and you don't have to do those 15 aditional after the release.
I suppose many players will have a look at the Death Knight upon release, but i doubt that more than 10% will actually play it heavily. I, for my part, love my current lvl 70 chars and want them to reach 80. I will play a Death Knight sooner or later, but it's not my top priority. I guess many people will hold it that way too.

My reason for not rolling a DK on the release day is that I am on a PVP server. Imagine if you will 2000 DK's on one server all starting in the same area and just outside the doors of their starting "city" is a pvp enabled zone. This doesn't sound like much fun to me.

Unless they make it like shattrath, where you can't PvP inside.

So they are going to make the entire zone of EPL a non pvp zone? Yeah not going to happen. I sorta figured the no pvp in the starting area was a given being that it is in a contested zone.

Posted in another thread, but it's relevant in this one as well:
DK will be the flavor of the week when WotLK comes out, but not everyone will be "Deathknighting it up in Northrend," right away...I'd highly doubt that any 55, "hero class" or otherwise, is going to get very far in a 70+ zone. Unless the intro quest chain for DKs involves leapfrogging 15 levels in an hour, I'd be surprised to see entire servers overrun with death knights. After all, if you have a 70 on your account, you could be exploring Northrend instead of questing in EPL for the (x)th time.
Personally, I imagine I'll be spending about 70% of my WoW time leveling my main in Northrend, and the rest of the time playing my new DK, unless one is that much more fun than the other. Then again, I'm the only person in WoW who has a main and a bank alt, and nothing else. :)

But I fooled all the others who posted so far that I actually said something intelligent and well thought out, right? =3
