Just make sure that your proffesions are at 300 before you go otherwise you will have to either use the AH or keep dropping back into Azeroth to level them up.
Except fishing, which needs to be at least 275.

I'll semi-sort-of agree with all the posters so far. What I did on both my druid and priest was to head out to HFP at 58, and do the first dozen or so quests for the gear. Then I went back to the old world and finished out WPL/EPL, Silithus, and cleared out a lot of old quests I couldn't do before. I didn't go back to Outland fulltime until lvl 62, when I had all my professions up to at least 300, and when the quests became a lot easier. For a squishy priest and a resto druid, it helped a -lot- to have a level or two up on the quests.

I still remember the epix moment of walking through the portal at 2 am while needing to wake up at 7 for work. I sat at the stairs infront of the big fight roling a nice J to celebrate my first toon into outland.
I went to outland the moment I dinged 58. I had normal greenies/blues while going there (didn’t do dungeons after Uldaman I think).
I was also Affliction specced.
My advice to other locks at lvl 58. Keep the playstyle you’re used to, and if you’re somewhat skilled, you can handle Outland with ease…
Also, because your gear will improve quicker then you’ve ever experienced while leveling to 58 it doesn’t matter a lot in my opinion what gear you’re wearing…

Go at 58. You can do it. Just pay attention to your surroundings. The quests reward WAY more xp, and WAY better loot. They have a lot of roaming pats in hellfire in order to help prepare you for more difficulty. Get used to it. And get used to watching for the opposing faction being nubs killing you before you get your outlands gear. Nothing screams "no talent" more then when a full S1 geared toon comes around and hammers you for no reason.
