Auction and Crafting windows at the same time?

I'm not even sure where to look to allow this. What I want to do is have the Auction window open at the same time as my Crafting window.
I've been able to do this in the past, but as mods get updated or changed, the ability comes and goes. I get the feeling that some unrelated mod, like a bar mod or something, is changing some kind of UI behavior, but I wouldn't even know where to begin.
Any thoughts from the UI pros out there?

I was actually searching for the same thing for the past few days. A friend of mine said it worked fine for him but didn't have any idea why, since he hadn't installed any mods with that purpose.
After a bit of tweaking and testing, we discovered that strangely, RicoMiniMap was doing it. Hardly the thing I'd expect such a mod to do, but hey, I'm not complaining :D I love the ability to cut gems and search for current AH prices at the same time.

See, that's exactly it. Some mods play with the UI in a way that allows this, and it comes and goes with newer versions.
Unfortunately the Auction and Crafting mods don't have this built-in, so I can't just keep it on.

I find reference to a mod called Lexan that used to be designed specifically for this purpose, but after finding a version WoWAce says was updated recently (as opposed to the other websites where it hasn't been updated in over a year), I can't say it actually works. Here's to hoping someone makes a mod that does this simple task.

Well, could you go look at RicoMiniMap and see what it's doing to allow it? Actually making a small addon is pretty trivial ... I used to have one I made to change the self-cast modifier key before it was saved in the configuration file.
That, or point me to a link with the RMM addon and I can look at it sometime...

I *think* that the amount of windows you can have open side by side depends on size. Your games resolution, UI scale, the size of the windows themselves and anything around them (such as the minimap).
Open up your settings -> video -> play about with the UI scale.

Some windows are also mutually exclusive in the default UI. Usually if there are too many windows open for the space, the individual windows scale themselves. For example, if I open a crafting window and the bank, then all my bags, the bags render really small.

As far as I know the bags are the only thing to automatically rescale.

Mm, yeah. What you said. But still, anyway. I don't think the window would
not
open or close some other window because there wasn't screen space ... would it? I run at 1280 around 73% on the whole UI ... so I don't think I can really test this.

I just tried it out, I had about the scale bar at about 70% and could open 3 windows (such as alchemy, talents and spellbook, also tried auction house which counts as two windows and alchemy, worked fine). Then I moved my ui scale to 100%, at which point it wouldn't let me open any more than two windows.

Well, there you go. What a silly behavior. Though, it makes sense, I guess, considering the general behavior of the default UI's frames.
If it's something simple like that, then I imagine it should just be a matter of overriding the check that determines if one frame needs to be hidden to accommodate another.

I'm running at 1920x1200 and UI scale is at minimum, which is 68%.
As I said, it worked with a different set of mods.

Ok, I know this is a really old post but did anyone ever find an answer to this? I wanted to have my collections window open at the same time as the AH so I could see specific items that I'm missing from a particular set and search for them quickly. I know I can filter out collected items but I'm missing one or two from quite a few sets and rather than going through all the uncollected items it would be so much easier if I could just see two windows side by side.
I mean seriously, with all the technical knowledge at blizz's disposal you'd think that having more than two or three windows open at a time wouldn't be a huge ask.

Well even with having both open shift click from profession ingredients to AH text field is not working. D:

the addon
DeModal
allows you to open both (and as many others as you like) at the same time
