I've met a lot of great people in WoW and still talk to most but closest we have ever came to meeting is skype tho I did get to go to my one guildies wedding through skype which was pretty epic.
This post was from a user who has deleted their account.
A lot of my guild mates I have met in real life and they have grown to be some of my great friends.
I've been playing WoW since BC was released, and I've met many amazing people who are still my friends today even if some of them stopped playing WoW. But these are some of the most incredible, friendliest, nicest people in the world, and i honestly have no friends like them outside of the internet. I havent been able to connect or get the support from anyone else like i have them, and it's really had a impact on my life, making me a better person and they pull me out of my darkest moments. I would have loved to apply for the Catfish show, since my SO and i don't have the money to go see each other(and it doesn't help we live on opposite sides of the country), but we just aren't comfortable having our lives invaded on TV, and especially knowing how bad MTV makes everything look.
I would like a gathering of all 10 guildies in the main raid :P too bad all of us live in a different state XD
Unfortunately, I haven't really made any friends. I am too anti-social, in real life and even online... :(
Considering the majority of my guild-mates and friends I have met in WoW are on the other side of another country, this would be awesome, as right now it's a 'little' cost prohibitive.
I have met at least 2 people that I consider great friends through Wow and keep in contact with many other RL friends who are in all parts of the world now.
~8 years ago I met my current roommate playing WoW (we were constantly competing for top DPS lol).he's one of three people in my life that I consider an true friend.he's like the brother I never had, and if it weren't for this WoW we'd never have met.
I've never met anyone in real life from Warcraft, but seeing the charges for Warcraft on my checking account did lead to a conversation about it with the bank teller (who played with his son) who was helping me organize my banking accounts.
I have met my boyfriend in Orgrimmar ^^ We also had guild meeting back in wrath :) It is really nice to see how people you know really look like :D
Never really MET anyone from wow they are all too far tho I have had some really night friends because of WOW.
In the last 6 years I have met in person, dated and lived with fistfuls of people I knew solely from wow. Some got me through the worst times, and have been part of the best. I've been to weddings and shared drinks with so many, even road trips and conventions. The game is great, but it has been an even better adventure away from the keyboard.
I was friends with my guild leader since ICC, and we both planned on having a meetup at Hershey Park and it was great. Everyone else I meet on WoW that I talk to out of WoW is either in a different game or on Skype.
When i first began WoW, i was a total noob. I had no friends, no idea how to play the game,or what to do with it.I started at the end of the Burning Crusade expansion and was introduced to shamans. I began to love them as i have a passion for wolves and my story began. I was taking my daily stroll through Arathi Highlands as i like to use Arathi Basin as my pvp enjoyment, when i come across a hunter who was in trouble. Me being in good nature ran over their in ghost wolf( i was lvl 43 but hated the elekks mounts) form. I saved the hunter and she asked me if i wanted to tag along and finish the quest together. The adventure of our friendship began. We traveled across Azeroth, from the Strangle Thorn forest to the Western plague lands.I would be the one strolling behind as i refuse to use a mount and was terribly poor to afford another one. I was always admiring her, sometimes to the fact i thought she was the richest person i known( now its the other way around). We spent hours lvling, running through some old dungeon, chatting along in vent as good old pals. There were some fights, but what is a great friendship without them? To this day she and i still play the game. She comes on a few times in a month, which saddens me as i barely get to talk to her as i continue my day in my life. I would never have met a greater friend who have been by my side no matter what drama engulfed us. 2/09/09 Will be a date i will always remember. The day i met my best friend who one day hope to meet and have a nice cup of coffee, laughing over the days of when our friendship began.
I've met 2 awesome friends over wow and have been talking to them for 5 years. We all need to meet in person it would be really cool. I'm almost positive that they are who they say they are but who knows.
My greatest friendship started on an RP server. Still haven't met, but we play together everyday.
I've played WOW since the beginning - many friends have come and gone, but at the same time many friends are still online friends with me years later. I actually met a good friend back in BC during the days of the dreaded Fel Reaver, and we have continually talked and played together ever since then. We were both inexperienced GM's of small guilds looking to grow and decided to start playing together. Then all of a sudden the F.R. appeared out of nowhere and started chasing my friend "Q". (Funny thing is we were standing beside each other and he was actually a level higher than me but it ignored me, lol.) After he rez'd, we started to do another quest - and guess who appeared again? For the next hour as we tried to play, the FR would appear out of nowhere and start chasing my friend even when we weren't in his path! It was as if a game GM was playing cat and mouse with Q. About the 3rd or 4th time this happened...was the funniest. The FR appeared and Q's hunter looked like it has a facial expression of being scared, his hunter THREW HIS WEAPON DOWN (oddly ur not supposed to do that) and started running! It was so funny that I nearly choked to death on my drink. My friend is retired Army and I'm a newly retired Marine - we've met a time or 2 when I was stationed in CA, but now I'm on the east coast. We still send cards/CHRISTmas presents to each other and play together when we can. Kinda funny how the FR and that crazy situation makes us both smile to this day.
