Its back =D
BTW; while I am working on an in-depth review, I'm not gonna publish it yet, the game is still in beta, many things are subject to change, and I wish to truly test everything before offering an input to it.

yep.
On a brighter note, my class feels SO MUCH better now that I'm lvl 10. The difference is HUGE.
For starters, I can now attack and shield bash without needing to lower my shield, which means that unless the enemy can dish out a lot of damage, I'm more or less unkillable. I can just stay in shield mode, and spam shield bash to replenish the guard meter, having infinite block. (This doesn't work if there's too many enemies, or several strong types, as they drain the block bar too fast)
But also because I have a healing ability, and even if its a daily power, I can squeeze it for all its worth when mixed with the above. I just activate it, then charge, griffon's wrath, and shield bash spam. Since I'm holding down the guard button, I'm taking no damage, but healing myself for the damage done.
Love it :P

Its up again, but after spending a while reading the forums, I'm concerned that I chose my class poorly.
I've been seeing more and more posts and user comments that at higher levels, you don't really need a tank, just 2 heals, and 3 DPS. According to other players, the monsters don't hit hard enough to make a tank necesary at all, and since Rogues and Wizards out DPS guardians in both single-target and AoE, its a waste of a slot to bring one.
='(
Of course, beta is beta, so lets hope cryptic does something about it.

@Rank:
Okay so, firstly, just wait 'til you hit 35, that's when GFs really take off! Marking is very important and right now you need to use the AoE taunt on its relatively long cooldown or mark things manually which never works. At 35 you get Threatening Rush which is a 20' charge that marks all mobs around your target (and the target itself of course) AND, here's the kicker, it's an at-will! It's a beautiful thing and mixed with Enhanced Mark really makes you a real tank, from a threat perspective at least.
The Daily heal ability I find very lacklustre. It just doesn't heal enough and you need to be doing damage to get healed which basically means that you can't wait until you're low to use it, you need to use it proactively - and if you're using it that way then you should probably just avoid the damage instead.
Blocking doesn't remain quite as cool as you say. You'll quickly find, in dungeons, that you can't try to turtle up behind your shield. The big attacks from bosses will one shot your guard and make it impossible to regain from shield bashes. You're gonna need to stay mobile and not get locked into long attack animations in case you need to move. It's a great tool but not the main thing to use as a tank.
The thing about the really tough dungeons isn't that the damage is too low to require a tank but rather than the big attacks a boss does are telegraphed enough for a TR to be able to attack without needing the bosses attention to be on a tank. However there are adds on all boss fights... lots of adds! I ran the level 49 icy dungeon tonight and the last boss basically stands in the middle AoEing the crap out of the whole room. When I taunted he barely changed his behaviour. However he kept spawning big adds and the only way we got through it was for me to pick them up and kite them while the group took the boos out. I would like to see some changes to make it, essentially, mandatory to use a tank on the oss itself but I'm having a ton of fun on my tank so I wouldn't worry yet about the future of your class.

The PvP queuing system needs some work. Too many idlers and dropouts not getting replaced. And in 5v5 that pretty much cuts your chances of winning by at least 50%.

Yeah agreed. I've had a couple of AFKers and having no way to report them is pretty frustrating.

WAR had a pretty good way of doing it

I didn't play any PvP in that game, how did they do things?

I've been mostly PvPing and Soloing on my Cleric, but I decided to finally do a skirmish a while ago.... man oh man, I do not like PvE healing. In any situation where I have to heal people who are stacked on top of each other, it makes me want to pull my hair out. The targeting system feels so much better in PvP.
Also cloaks -- at least mine -- are really glitchy. Even on the character selection screen the physics go all wonky .

That's interesting, about the healing. As a tank who relies on those heals I've been wondering how things work for Clerics. I'm at 52 now and it feels like I'm mostly receiving AoE heals and effects but perhaps they're just the most visible things and I'm missing a lot of the subtlety. Do you get many targeted encounter power heals beyond the 3 stack HoT (as far as I got on mine)?

ok this is weird. I got a daily quest to complete a "Valid" foundry quest. I need this daily to get astral diamonds, problem is I have no idea what are the game's criteria for a "valid" foundry quest. I completed one, took me about 20 min, and it didn't gave me any credit.

Healing Word (the HoT) and our channeled heal while under Divinity are both targeted. The AoEs are definitely more fun and generally more useful... but God forbid I have to heal half the Tank's health pool or something. At the very least, it would be nice to have a focus system like in WoW, so I can hold down a modifier and automatically lock to a specific player. The ALT lock is nice, but it doesn't fix the biggest problem of getting the person targeted in the first place.

Hit "L" and then go to the Catalog tab. As you select quests on the left, the description panel on the right will have a green notification that says it's valid for the daily.

Whelp, here's how NOT to do a quest with the foundry: Stick a pop culture reference or meme from another work.
I was doing a highly recommended foundry quest, and then immediately stopped at about 5 min in. I go to an inn, speak to the innkeeper, and his first line of dialog was: "I used to be an adventurer like you. Then I took an arrow to the knee"
Immersion? what's that?.
I'll tell you what its not:
A POLITE SUGGESTION!!!!!

I understand people being bad at PvP. I do not understand people paying $200 for a F2P game and then being horrible at PvP. I just had one of the worst PvP matches I've been in yet, and it was with 4 guys on $200 founders' mounts. It just boggles my mind that people would drop that kind of money into a game if they weren't serious players.

When you fund your campaign to be the king of pwning nubs with mommy's credit card, it doesn't really matters if you're committed or not.
Some people are just that bad with their money (or at least when they have access to money they didn't had to work to earn)

I'm bad with my money

I'm a PvE player who runs PvP matches occasionally - I generally sign up for one or two when it's PvP hour. I didn't cough up for the founder pack but if I had more disposable income or had been following this game for longer prior to "launch" I might've put the money down on it. I can see how someone would consider themselves serious enough to pay that money without being particularly adept in that one small area of the game.
That said, I think I'm doing pretty well at the mechanics of the PvP (my K/D is always heavily skewed to K) even if an experienced PvPer might consider me playing like a noob, tactically.

I have a friend who has a lifetime sub to LOTRO, STO, got the $200 Neverwinter Bundle and I think he may have a lifetime to Champions online also. He's not super great at MMO's although he's been playing them for years. Part of why he isn't super great is because he doesn't have a lot of time to play them, and part of why he doesn't have a lot of time to play them is his job has him traveling a lot. but becasue of that he's making over $200,000 a year at his job. So for him dropping $200 for a cool spider mount and the drow race is like going and buying a 6pack of bear for most of us. Its all a matter of perspective.
