Pointy teeth filled the scope. "Why hello there," a voice said from directly in front of Victor.

Victor Atwood
Gilneas Countryside
The first thought that filled Victor's mind upon seeing two rows of teeth that close was
how did the focus change?
A split second later the implications of that thought made themselves shockingly clear. Victor scrambled backwards, dropping the glass from prioritizing the grip on his gun. In a sprawling mess of clothes and limbs he managed to end up on his rear, rifle at the ready and pointing at Faust's toothy face. "Who're you?" he asked quickly but with little authority to his voice.

Faust straightened, still smiling blithely as if the rifle aimed at him was no more threatening than a flower. "Me? Why, I'm Faust Kaufman," he said, doffing his hat slightly. "Though you likely will remember little of that, it is generally polite to introduce yourself all the same. That in mind, who might the young man be who shot my worgen, and is currently aiming their gun at me?"

Victor swallowed. "Victor. Atwood."
Nearly involuntarily he touched a knuckle to his forehead in lieu of tipping his hat, which was currently elsewhere. His mouth was dry and his heart pounded, but the barrel pointing at Faust was ever so steady. "Hired gun."

Faust's eyes slipped to the rifle. "So I see. Now, mister Atwood," Faust continued congenially. "Understand, you have put me in a somewhat delicate position. When I said my worgen, it was not any indication I owned him, per se. But, rather, that I am currently assisting him and those like him in their escape from here. For I have accepted payment to do so. But then, though I bear you no particular ill will, you stand to oppose me in that. Is that the gist of it?" he asked.

Victor peered down the barrel at the man. "A deal is a deal," he said gravely. He then relaxed his aim a bit, looking up from the sights but still keeping the gun levelled. "As it happens,
I
have no signed contract with the Gilneans. So, to answer your question: not
necessarily

Faust quirked an eyebrow in interest. "Is that so? And, may I inquire as to what you intend to do with that freedom of choice?"

"Well..." Victor began slowly, seemingly at a loss. "You
are
getting paid to help these cursed beasts escape. Cartridges are not free. Maybe I should just save myself some coin?"
He withdrew the bolt without lowering the gun, the unspent round ejecting onto the ground. "Or perhaps," he rammed the bolt in again chambering another round in a split second, "you have a counterproposal?"

"Well," Faust smiled unnervingly, gently stroking the gem which topped his cane. "Well, far be it for me to hold up a man of such obvious wisdom. But, it likely depends on how mercenary you are."

"
That
depends on the adventure. I am easily bored," Victor shrugged his left shoulder as not to disturb his aim. "Restless, one could say."

"Is that so?" He grinned a little wider. "Well, I don't intend to prod any of your moral indignation by asking you to assist with these fleeing worgen. After all, you are Gilnean and that would be horribly insensitive -- not to mention offensive -- of me. But, perhaps there's something else I can, to put it colloquially, 'rope' you into. Tell me, how invested are you in this mission and remaining in this..." Faust looked about the dismal and wet land about them apprehensively. "...humid, country?"

"I went with the military on a borrowed horse and followed them across the countryside to exercise my trigger finger and keep my restlessness in check. I know and care little of their further plans."
He glanced around, obviously taking in the environment. After a second he seemed to have made up his mind, and commented simply: "It
is
humid."

"Terrific," Faust toothily replied. He stepped forward and extended a hand to help the human up. In doing so, he fairly shoved his chest against the barrel of the gun. The perfect shot, impossible to miss if Victor but twitched a finger upon the trigger.

Victor froze. His finger
was
depressing the trigger, a hair's breadth from releasing the firing pin. But his hand was steady, not the slightest vibration shaking his digits. "Right," he said understandingly, grabbing Faust's hand with his left. Very slowly and demonstratively he released the trigger, flexing all fingers but the one actually on the mechanism outward.

"I hope so," Victor muttered and took a step back, finally lowering the gun to his hip. He took a step back and brushed himself off, nimbly collecting the unspent cartridge from the ground as well as the casing from his one fired shot without breaking neither aim nor eye contact. He pocketed the two items before letting his guard down and slinging the gun over his shoulder.
Replacing his hat and reaching for his coat, Victor wondered if the decision had been so very wise; this he didn't let slip his tongue, however. "What would you have me do?" he rather asked while shaking off leaves and twigs from his heavy overcoat.

Fein didn't actually manage to form any words; merely trying to hold Cora still while he drew still.
Silvia giggled. "See, all better huh?" She questioned. "Now who is this?" The Draenei asked; looking at Tori who lay unconscious. "Pretty little thing like her all beat up? Oh nonono, that just won't do." She shook her head; needing far more effort for healing Tori than Issac. The Dominatrix wrapped itself around the girl, shadows beginning to stitch her wounds.
