NOTE: THIS IS A NON-WOW RP. IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM, REPORT IT AND DON'T. POST. Thanks!
It’s the third century of the second age, each age being roughly two thousand years. The world of Alsyas has fallen into strife. About two hundred years before, the world had been relatively harmonious. The people of Carlaxis (often called “elves”) lived among their forests, working hand in hand with nature. They had been granted magic, how or why, nobody knew. The elves, however, used it to their advantage and were the true superpower of the world. Their capital is called Carlaxis.
The people of Denfor (often called “humans”), lived in the low plains to the south of the forests of Carlaxis, and provided most of the food for the world. They were farmers for the most part, out of necessity. They warred little, having no time or the inclination to. They were a mostly simple people with simple needs. Their capital city is Sanctuary.
The people of Khazden (often called “dwarves”), lived in the mountains to the north of Carlaxis. They were miners and warriors of great repute. Most of their metal went to the humans in exchange for food, which quickly established warm political connections between the two peoples. However, Carlaxis separated them, which the elves used to their advantage, often raiding human and dwarven caravans. A group of dwarves and humans, known collectively as the Hazelurkers, protested formally to the elven courts, but were turned away without an audience. Khazden's capital is called Stonehome.
The people of Gora, (often called “gnomes”), lived to the far west of Carlaxis, residing in a delta of many rivers and canyons. They were a small people, but were tinkerers of great repute. However, after a period of some years, they became menaced by the elves, and appealed to Khazden and Denfor for aid, who responded immediately. There was a series of small battles and skirmishes in Gora, before the elves were eventually driven back, their superior forces unable to combat the guerilla tactics of the humans and dwarves. In gratitude, the gnomes offered their technological advances to the humans and dwarves. Their capital is Goraxin.
Delighted, the three quickly became a rising power, sharing resources and technological advancements. The elves, becoming uneasy, formed an alliance with the people of Ycksla (often called “kobolds”), who were proficient genetic engineers. They began a work on an undisclosed project, which had the chilling name of “Project Origin.” Some of the elves, however, became increasingly uneasy with this new prospect. At the same time, the humans underwent a bloody, bitter and increasingly violent civil war, which resulted in a split between them to form two new countries, the original Denfor, which remained allied with the dwarves, and the New Order of Natural Equilibrium, which attached itself to the elves and kobolds.
At this same time, the Hazelurkers resurfaced with a weapon of their own, simply known as “The Device.” They threatened the elves with attack if they wouldn’t cease and desist, but they refused.
So the Hazelurkers detonated said device.
Nobody is quite sure what it did, but a three mile section of the forest of Carlaxis was completely annihilated, leaving behind a scorched and blackened wasteland.
The gnomes, horrified at the attack, withdrew from the alliance. The elves, outraged, threatened the human/dwarf alliance (known as the Clanker powers) with war, until the news leaked that it was a group of their own that smuggled the Device into the testing area for Project Origin. The elves, livid, banished this group, who came to be known as the Outcasts. The Outcasts fled elven lands and settled in a desert region of Denfor, establishing a city called New Sanctuary. Once there, they took to a new dwarven invention like fish to water: the airship. Humans, disliking the airship, kept to their own invention, known as biplanes, instead, while dwarves used a mix of both.
After a period of about ten years, the gnomes resurfaced. They had discovered a people of the islands of the western sea, known as the Zago. They were a race of rodentlike humanoids, taller than even the elves, and highly advanced. They began an information trade, and quickly became the masters of electronics. Their capital is Zagofar.
The world shifted into a delicate balance.
Until the son of the dwarven throne was killed by an aerial bomb while in a parade.
Now the three, Clanker, Naturalist, and Replicator are poised on all out war.
Right, quick overview:
Clankers (steampunk) = Humans (Denfor) Dwarves and Outcasts
Naturalists (biopunk) = Elves and Kobolds and the NONE.
Replicators (cyberpunk) = Gnomes and Zago
Magic is allowed in this, mostly among the Naturalists (especially elves), but quite a few others also have magic, especially the Hazelurkers. If you want to RP a Hazelurker, LET ME KNOW. They're quite complex and are going to be VERY important later on.
Enjoy!

A brief overview of the countries and their culture:
Carlaxis
: Carlaxis is a temperate land, with very mild winters and hot summers. Most of the land is flat, and it is riddled with small forests, and several extremely large ones. There are very few bodies of water in the land, but several small rivers flow through it, keeping the forests hydrated.
The people there, “elves,” are taller, on average, than humans by about a foot, and are extremely slender. However, while they are excellent at aerobic activities, their anaerobic activities leave much to be desired. Weight lifting is extremely difficult for any elf, who have about ½ of the average muscle mass of a human. Their eyes cover most colors, notably lacking violet and red.
Their culture is incredibly refined, and they treat delicacy with the utmost respect. To speak out of turn in the presence of an elder is abhorred, and to use brute force brings shame upon one’s head.
Their government is best described as a heredity republic. Nine “Great Houses” contribute three delegates each to the Court, where all matters are decided. One House is elected each year to be the “Arbiter” house, which contributes a single extra delegate to head the Court. They gain no vote unless there is a tie, but they have the power to veto.
Their religion tends to be unstructured, with the Long Dream being the dominant religion. It focuses on following the Road to Balance, a term used to describe harmony with nature and oneself.
They possess magic, in incredibly large amounts. Most of their magic works through living beings, prompting them to do what the caster wishes. They are also accomplished psionists, able to control others actions without their consent, though it takes a powerful mind to be able to do so. They are also masters of pyrokineses and cryokineses (the ability to wield fire and ice, respectively), though it’s more the power to use heat and cold, which manifests as fire and frost.
Denfor
: Denfor is a temperate land, with a long growing season, relatively mild winters and warm summers. Denfor borders the sea, allowing them to ship their goods nearly anywhere, resulting in a strong economy. The land can be fairly mountainous, with several large rivers running through it.
The people who inhabit Denfor are known as “humans.” They are shorter than the elf, but almost twice as heavy. Their brains tend towards math and mechanical knowledge, unlike the elves’, which tends towards attunement with nature and artistic talents, though there are exceptions.
Their culture tends to be more pragmatic, worrying not only about the current moment, but the future as well. They have about a third of the lifespan of the elves, which seems to have fueled their desire to achieve. As such, they have risen much more quickly than the elves, but at the same time, any individual human magic users and/or weapon users tend to be less powerful than their given elven counterpart.
Their magic tends more towards aeromancy and kinectomancy. Note the suffic –mancy, which indicates an inherently different magical system than kineses. Kineses are mostly mind-fueled, psionic, and require mental discipline to use. However, they can become much more controlled and technical than their –mancy counterpart. Mancys tend to be spiritual in nature, based upon the user’s “heart” and spirit. This can result in incredible power and endurance, but with the downside of being less controlled.
Their government is democratic, with all eligible adults able to vote on given referendums, though local and regionwide laws are limited to the residents of said area. There is a strong central government, somewhat paradoxically, which deals with all foreign relations and anything that affects all given people within the country.
Their religion focuses on a higher being known as the Architect, who supposedly created the human species. The priests of the Design are also able to manifest spiritual abilities to heal and harm, though whether this is a side category of human magic is unknown.
Gora
: Genfor is a fairly temperate land, possessing bitterly cold winters and cool summers. It is a peninsula, which has been fractured by rivers to form several large islands. Their land is a very lush land, allowing the inhabitants, called “gnomes” to practice a form of migratory herding with the mountain goats of the area for their meat and hides. They also possess several small, incredibly valuable gem deposits, which they sold to the elves at a severely undervalued rate for several years, before the Clanker alliance allowed them to raise prices, which stayed steady once the gnomes left as they formed the Replicators.
The gnomes themselves are small, about two thirds of the size of the average human. They lack magic of any sort, and as a side effect, their minds have turned to technology. They are far more dexterous than even the elves, and have a steady nervous system, allowing them to remain patient for incredibly long periods at a time.
Their government is a democratic republic, with the people electing 70 representatives that serve a 2 year term.
Their religion retains the old belief that the planet has a great spirit living within it, which manifests in rivers, trees, plains, mountains, etc. This belief was what caused the horror and subsequent withdrawal from the Clanker powers after the detonation of the Device. This also caused them to drift away from industrialization into electronics.
Khezdon
: Khezdon is a cold land, with only the southern portions able to grow food. As such, they were in a constant state of rationing before the humans began trading food for tools and weapons. It is mountainous, and experiences heavy snowfall most of the year.
The people who inhabit Khezdon, known as “dwarves” are shorter than humans but taller than gnomes. They possess more muscle mass than the average human and can remain still for much longer periods of time. They are very mechanically minded, and currently spearhead the Clanker powers as the creator of new technologies.
Their government is a constitutional heredity monarchy, with males being on the line for the throne, and females being placed in charge of the religious establishment.
Their religion focuses on worship of the ancestors, along with the “gods” of various concepts or substances, such as honor, ice, iron, etc. While they don’t necessarily believe in a deity for each substance or concept, they worship the concept or substance itself and the god as a representation of said substance. They also have the belief that their combined worship will eventually form an incarnation of the focus of their worship, a “demigod” of sorts.
Their magic focuses on passive, rune based magic. Instead of discovering a magic language, in the distant past, they created a language and placed their magic within it. Now, certain symbols stand for certain actions or elements, which are combined in various ways to form the desired outcome. Because of this, dwarven magic users, termed “lorekeepers” often carry scrolls inscribed with spells, or with trinkets, weapons or clothes inscribed with more permanent magical formula, which activates on the creator’s command (though there are exceptions).
Ycksla
: Ycksla is a massive cave system that flows under most of south-eastern Khazdon, eastern Carlaxia, and even stretches further south. The caves range from rather cramped, to extremely spacious. It is unknown how many of the caves are artificial, and how many were already created when the word was young. Massive lakes and underground rivers populate many of them, making boats the easiest way to travel. The underground nature makes farming difficult, due to the lack of sunlight. However, the massive caves normally remain around the same reasonable temperature. Mushrooms, some looking more like trees than fungi, are the most common vegetation.
“Kobolds,” the local people of Ycksla, are reptilian in nature. They stand around the same size of gnomes, and are masters of traversing their underground water networks, and those of the surface world as well. Kobolds have whip-like tails, elongated heads, large eyes, and scales that range to almost any color imaginable.
Kobold society is fairly strict on magic. Although most can learn it, many fear for the safety of their people should their magic become too wide-spread and out of control. Thus, any Kobold within Ycksla wishing to use magic must receive permission first. Kobolds are masters of a magic that could most be described as alchemy. They are able to use it to break down atoms, molecules, or even DNA strands, and modify things t their wishes. This has led to a profession called ‘genetic manipulation’ becoming popular amongst the lizardfolk: manipulating and altering animals and other parts of nature to suit other needs.
Kobold government is centered on a single leader, commonly one who has proven to be the most powerful of their race. Commonly, a new leader is decided either when the old one dies and chooses a successor, or another Kobold challenges the current one to a one-on-one battle. However, if the other kobolds were to decide the current leader did not have their best interests in mind, they could join forces into a revolt to overthrow them for the greater good, although this is rather rare.
Their religion focuses around the worship of several ‘gods’, which they call Wyverns. There is a Wyvern for the Earth, the Air, and Fire. In addition, there is a single ‘Great Wyvern of the Sea’ who watches over the Kobolds as they sail their ships along the waters, as well as keeping the other Wyverns under control and maintaining balance in the world.

Character
: Bjalderson
Location
: Stonehome
Description
:
Bjalderson is a biplane pilot, and spent some time working on an airship. He's short for a dwarf, has iron gray hair and beard, and wears a long brown coat at all times. Goggles are nestled firmly on his head, and a gas mask rests in his pack. A revolver is kept at all times on his belt, which rests on a pair of brown slacks, with a white, buttoned shirt above it.
Bjalderson stood amidst the crowd in Stonehome, watching the parade go by. Eventually, the star came into sight: Prince Hapsen, heir to the throne. He rode in a new invention, called an automobile. Bjalderson broke into a cheer, as did every other dwarf in the area.
Then suddenly, he was on his bottom. His ears were ringing, and there was smoke in the air. As he watched a zeppelin started floating away, dropping another bomb, which hit a column of parade soldiers and blowing them to bits.
Where the prince had been was only a remnant of twisted metal and smoke.

Flik
Flik is a kobold, a rather intelligent pirate of sorts.
His race are small, commonly not much larger than gnomes. They are rather reptilian in nature, with long, whip like tails, elongated snouts, and scales that range from brown, to grey, to green, and even yellows and blues occasionally. It is unknown what the first kobolds might have looked like before their genetic manipulations upon themselves, some suspect they may be all that remains of the mythical dragons.
Flik, specifically, has dark brown scales, commonly wears loose clothing and enjoys using blades in his work.
Carlaxis
"Come on, come on." The kobold yipped, frustrated with the others of his kind as they struggled with the heavy crates.
Carlaxis stretched out around them and the carriage they were loading, what could only be describes as the most demented horse-lizards ever created ready to pull it once it was finally loaded.
"Hurry up, before we late!" Flik yipped more.

Jormgar
Description:
Jormgar is a fit, medium sized dwarf with short black hair and a short beard. His skin is rather tanned as he spends most of his time outdoors. He usually wears a camo-suit and carries a small backbag with him. He is armed with a sniper rifle, pistol and a combat-knife.
Jormgar is a sergant in the Khazden borderguards, mainly operating with a small team of guerilla soldiers in sabotage and reckon-ops.
Location:
Stonehome
Jormgar and his squad were sitting in the barracks yard, tending to their equipment and discussing their last mission.
- "You remember that one guy who had lost both of his legs and was still chewing on a piece of bread?", Miriala asked.
Miriala was the only woman in their team but also the most valued member as she was the one who could make almost anything go kaboom.
Others chuckled and even Jormgar smiled a bit.
Suddenly to loud explosions echoed from the inner city. On that instant the whole team was up and gathering any weapons and equipment nearby.

Carlaxis
"Finally!" Flik exclaimed as the crate was placed into the carriage. The kobold climbed up onto the front, grabbing the reigns. He watched the other two climb up on top of the crate before whipping the reigns and heading off.
"Why he in such hurry?" One of the two kobolds whispered to the other.
"You don't know?" The other yipped, suprised. "We heading to old lady's place." He explained.

Character
: John William Cassidy
Description
:
A freelance bounty hunter with no political affiliation and no morals sans strict adherence to his own code, Cassidy is a shadowy figure whose face is rarely seen, more often than not covered by a wide-brimmed hat, a weird-looking breathing mask complete with opaque goggles and a gray woolen scarf. He is tall and gaunt, these features accentuated by a weathered heavy coat of black leather, long enough to barely show his knee-high boots made of the same material. Beneath the coat - which is reinforced with metal, as are the boots - many weapons are carried, but few, if any, can be seen.
Location
: New Sanctuary
Cassidy was leaning against a wall outside of a bar, his arms folded across his chest. He was seemingly staring into the ground - however, from beneath his impressive hat he was watching the streets. Currently, out of the corners of his eyes he was examining the Outcast captain. Clock could be attuned to his heavy, monotone breathing, modified by the mask.

Alt
Carlaxia's Limits
The female kobold stood at the side of the road, waiting. She was quite clearly female, even to other races. The women of the reptilian race did have certain curves that one might only expect from warm-blooded humanoids, as well as a slimmer head, and smoother scales. She was a dark, dull green in color.
Ald wore a 'long' robe, reaching down and covering her feet. It had a hood, but she had it pulled back. A pointed hat with a wide brim sat upon her head, curving back behind her somewhat.
He staff looked much like a stick, except towards the tip where it suddenly curved, creating a semi-circle.
She glanced around. "They better not have gotten eaten or something...."

The carriage shook somewhat as it left the road, Alt looking up at the three males with a mild interest. "Took you long enough." She stated, climbing up.
Flik watched her, glancing off into the woods. "That way?" He asked, watching the female nod beore whipping the reigns and driving the cart off into the wilderness.
