I will do my best to update this thread, so that we have a comprehensive, one stop location for anything 4.3 that is about, relates to, or effects warlocks. If you don't see something in the OP that you think should be included, post it, and I will add it to the list as long as its fit.

In 4.3, we have fixed the bug that caused the
Summon Doomguard
to benefit too much from mastery. We have buffed Demonology warlocks to compensate. Also note that we have not yet completed our balance adjustments for 4.3 so what you've seen in the patch notes are mostly of a mechanical nature.
That said, we think balance is in a good place overall, so anyone expecting huge pendulum swings will probably be disappointed.

We increased Demonology and Destruction’s DPS to be more competitive with Affliction, and increased the duration on Improved Soul Fire to make that buff a bit easier to manage. We also fixed a long-standing bug that caused the
Summon Doomguard
to do too much damage, so Demo’s buff also needed to offset that.

It is a distinct possibility that
Incinerate
has undergone some bug fixing. The bonus damage from damaging a target with Immolate should now probably scale with spell power instead of just being a flat 1/6 of the base damage. This is a nice buff for destruction and allows Demonology to ditch
Shadow Bolt
all together and respec for
. It should be noted that there has been discussion that the current Demonology spec would be more optimal for fights were you can extensively multidot (source needed).

Has a buff to Soul Harvest, going from 15% heal to 45% heal. I noticed when reading the offical notes, the wowheadnews post and GC's blog that there seem to be at least 3 different sets of patch notes for this patch. There are things in the offical notes that don't show in wowhead's news post, things in that post that don't show in the offical notes, and things GC says that just don't show anywhere. It's one great big cluster f*** imo.

Not a buff, just a rewording of the tooltip.

I think thats just a tooltip change. Instead of 15% and 1 shard every 3 seconds over 9 seconds, its now 45% and 3 shards over 9 seconds. I think this is better then the shadow bolt buff

I don't think there's any need for that sort of talk, no matter at whom your disdain is aimed. Blizzard puts out their info and Wowhead and MMO-C go to town with the data-mining. There's nothing new going on here and each information outlet is doing exactly what is expected of them.(##RESPBREAK##)8##DELIM##asakawa##DELIM##

I'm not necessarily talking about the data mined info specifically. Just that there seems to have been (again) miscommunication between the dev team and the CM's. It might not be as bad as I painted it, agreed, but it's still annoying, and confusing, that there is all this conflicting info out there.

Why change Shadow Bolt's visual effect? As far as I know, it's not shared with anything major (like another class ability), and I quite like the current one.

You'd think they would have put a little something to bring destro up. I'm sad now.

Basically everyone is predicting a change of some kind to Guardian pets to go with the tier bonuses that were already announced. My best guess is that there's more to come - though, the fact that they have nothing to share at this point does suggest the changes aren't major as one might wish.
I would expect/want/hope for:
A change to guardian pets or the proposed 2pc
Double the duration of Improved Soul Fire (even triple)
A small increase to Destro output (PvP is not so governed by burst right now so Destro could afford to have a stronger Chaos Bolt)
An increase to Felguard damage.
I honestly only really expect something regarding guardian pets though.
Why change Shadow Bolt's visual effect? As far as I know, it's not shared with anything major (like another class ability), and I quite like the current one.
Several classes/specs have had one of their main "missile" based attacks updated. These have been the same since vanilla so I wouldn't necessarily expect that the change is a vast one. My guess would be a simple update to the old look.

Blizzard released their official patch notes and GC did a blog to explain their thinking behind some of the changes. I don't see any confusion of miscommunication there. If you're getting confused because data-mined info is muddying the waters then that's hardly Blizzard's fault. ^_^(##RESPBREAK##)8##DELIM##asakawa##DELIM##

Meh, sure we're far from reaching the actual launch, but, damn are we getting left behind eh?
Blizz doesn't seem to have bothered at all to try and balance us further.

The orc racial Blood Fury now increases spell power rather than only spell damage.
Does that even matter? As in will that mean that during Blood Fury my pet now deals more damage too or something? Or is it just a wording thing?
Post by
asakawa
Nothing for Warlocks. Good for healers.
@AWildmann, Behind? Warlocks are in a really good place damage-wise.
Destro is a little low but even that is still well above BM, Frost and Sub (the other three pure-damage class's low specs).
Beyond that we have a couple of quality of life issues but "left behind" doesn't describe Warlocks at all.

Double the duration of Improved Soul Fire (even triple)
I think another solution is to make Empowered Imp change, having Incinerate also proc instant Soulfire (obviously the name would need a change).
ISF does need a duration increase as well, but I'm unsure about double or triple. What about something like + 33-66%?
Post by
asakawa
I honestly think that 30seconds would be a reasonable amount. It's a buff that is required for Destro to operate and it would work far better if it's duration were at least 30 seconds and also if the EmpImp buff lasted long enough for you to save your instants to maintain ISF.
Hard-casting would be fine on the rare occasion that you don't get an instant but it seriously holds Destro back right now. Soul Fire generally got a bit broken with Cataclysm >.<

No no I know Asa, we are on a pretty nice position on dps right now, but there are stuff that are still a bit off, like Soulshards never being used at all for afflic for example (maybe expect for drain life when using Demon Soul), or the deal about hoping that the Felguard could become a nice single target pet.
But yeah on the big picture there's no much reason to complain right now, on pve at least, pvp still gives me a headache.

It's like I said, GC said stuff was in this build that's not in this build as far as we have seen. Nor is it in the patch notes.

Those blogs give you an impression of what the devs are thinking. He's not just reading the patch notes for you and commenting, it's more prose than that.
I see
so
much negativity toward the devs and GC specifically (since becoming a moderator) that I may be leaping to their defence more than I would normally care to do. However, I find it incredibly interesting to hear what the developers of the game see as the major points of imbalance or annoyance and I just don't see how people see this sort of information and write it off as "a cluster ****". Seems to be misunderstanding what's being presented to me though perhaps I'm wrong.
@AWildmann, I definitely agree there's quality of life issues that are becoming increasingly annoying. Here's hoping that there's yet more to come from 4.3 for Warlocks.

I agree mostly, but I still think it's not good that he's specifically saying something has been changed, that the "offical" notes say something different. I don't feel that makes for a good experience for gamers who want to test this kind of thing. I also find it a pain that they have things in the notes that may of may not be there, and when someone goes to the effort to disect the build to try and explain it's impact to the community (something the Devs and CM's stay well out of) it's hard to give people a truly accurate feel for how their lives are going to change in the future. Let's face it, not everyone can get on the ptr to test things, and even then, not all of them would be effective at understanding the changes completely. For the people who want to help others, it's needlessly hard to actually find out what the truth is.
I did over react when I said that, and I love that GC comes and explains their processes to us, but like I said, it's not the best example of communication.

I have to admit that i miss wow somewhat, but patch notes like this are a good reason for not coming back soon. I am still on wowhead from time to time and its good to see you still hang in here ;)
