As of the year I graduated (1998), my hometown of Winslow, IN had roughly 890 people. 98% of them were Caucasian.
It was a bit of a culture shock when I moved to Phoenix.
I had to drive about 15 minutes to get to the nearest McDonald's or full supermarket. The closest Walmart was roughly a half-hour drive, in another county. The closest mall was an hour drive (Evansville).

My hometown had a population of only around 500 when I was growing up. Luckily there were a lot other towns nearby.

Kiruna is the coldest place in Sweden this year. Every year.
How cold is that?
It easily gets to -25, often colder, in the winter, and right now we average just about 0 degrees Celsius.
*shiver* I like the cold, but not that cold =/
So you must be melting at the moment :l
Robin hood is buried about 2 miles from me in Brighouse. In a graveyard in Clifton.
Brighouse itself is boring, like.. we have the best brass band in england.

/shrug - you get used to it. You kind of have to, lol. Last winter our coldest day was -44, though, and there is no getting used to that. It is and will always be painful, no matter how much of a badass you are

Well the town over from me has diner known for its burgers... big burgers...
Mt. Olympus 50 lbs of enjoyment
. The diner was also featured on a cooking network show for the size of its burgers.
And if you know who Michelle Smith, pro US softball player, grew up in my town and I attended the middle and high school she went to. My aunt also played HS softball with her.

i am from istanbul/turkey (you may also know it as constantinopole)
_the oldest settlement found in my town is from 7 milleniums BC,the first real settlement is around 660 BC
_it is the only city in the world that is on two continents
_it was first settled by ancient greeks then the byzantine empire then the ottoman empire and now turkey
_when the ottoman empire conquered the city, they proved castle walls can be destroyed with big siege cannons which highly threatened the feudal system in europe,it was the last step of transition from the middle age to early modern age
_it is one of the most densely populated cities in the world,15+ million people living in 5.5k square kilometres
_it has a strait,it is the narrowest one in the wolrd, you can clearly see the other side

Marquette, MI
The city of Marquette averages about 141 inches of snow per year, making it the fifth snowiest city in the United States among those cities large enough to be reported.

Itasca, TX
A small town of about 1500 people nestled right between Waco and Fort Worth. We have a Ford dealer, 2 gas stations, and a Dollar Store. If staring at cows and wheat fields are your thing, this is the place to be. I wouldn't trade living here for a thing in the world. :)

Home town: Cairns, Queensland, Australia
Fact: Population of 150,000 and no freaking tax office (nearest tax office is 375km's away)
Probably also has the most useless public transport system in the world (a bus being 45mins late is completely normal and so long as your going from the cbd to anywhere within an hour walk it is generally faster to walk)
That said and done the place isn't all bad, has a nice climate with half decent scenery around the place, Great Barrier Reef to your east, Mountain ranges to your west (and a bit further west again dry dust bowls), Rainforest to your north, Nice beaches to your south.

An intersection in my town was in the Guiness Book of World Records for having the most streets intersecting at a single point.
