Droprates are fine and cannot be accurately determined until Wowhead gets access to Blizzard's servers. And they're not influenced by the amount that drops, either.

It is not luck. It is simple math.
It is very possible to go long periods of time without seeing your numbers come up. A good way to learn this is to play Roulette. :P

Also for stuff like cloth, does it take multiples per mob into account? If you get 3 cloth on 3 different kills and none on a 4th kill, is that a 75% drop rate (3 times in 4 kills) or 225% drop rate (9 cloth in 4 kills)?
