We've
discovered
all the land. Doesn't mean that we've explored it all. There are still regions in the Congo that have never been mapped, have not necessarily been visually explored on foot, and have no known indigenous human population.
Not saying there are sasquatch or any other mythical creatures there - just wanted to point out that there are still regions of the world that have not actively been explored.

Hell, can say that about the Pacific northwest as well heh...and large areas of Russia and other portions of Asia, the Amazon etc etc etc.

So you don't believe any ancient people made up stories to pass the time, like we still do today?
Possible, but it's just as that their myths are actually based on something they saw/experienced.
Or perhaps they were making up explanations for things they didn't understand?
We understand thermodynamics now, but the ancients Greeks didn't.
I'm not saying that I don't understand belief in the supernatural. There are certain situations, like xaratherus's a couple pages back, that make it very easy to mistake a natural phenomenon for a supernatural one. But to say "All mythologies and folktales ever are undoubtedly true" just seems naive to me. I have a difficult time wrapping my mind around that.
I mean, we make up monsters and legends all the time. Orcs and Freddy Krueger and Slenderman and Cthulhu and Timelords and Ministries of Magic... those are all made up, and obviously not just based on something someone saw, but for entertainment value.
If we still make up stories of magic and paranormality in these days of iPhones, moon landings, and professional sports, what would make the ancients
less
likely to make up stories when that was all they had to do for fun?

Do I think ancient Greeks and Egyptians made this stuff up off the top of their head with no knowledge of writing or modern technology such as ipods? No.
Do I think they told stories to pass the time? Yes.
Yes, people make up stuff such as Orcs and Goblins, but people don't still make up gods or religions. Back in the day people worshipped things like the Sphinx, Fallen Angels, "Gods" who rule in the sky. People made up stories and lore ABOUT them, I don't believe they made them up by themselves.

Well, one could argue that there
are
religions that have come about in modern times (Mormonism, Scientology, New Age, Raëlism, etc.), but I don't want to get into another religious debate so soon after the last one was stopped.
So I'll just say that it's one thing to say that "Maybe Greek mythology is true" and it's another to say "All supernatural stories ever are true."

There are a few religions that are recently-created, or at least recent denominations based on other faiths. Islam is really only about 1400 years old; the Book of Mormon was not published until the early 1800s; Scientology didn't originate until the mid-1900s.

All this stuff is very possible. Humans were once pieces of stars, which shows what things the universe is capable of. Like I said from the other Supernatural forum I personally don't believe in the Boogie Man, Ghosts, or Ghouls, but the possibility of extra terrestrial life coming to Earth and playing God or just observing newfound life is very likely during the Dawn of Humanity.
If aliens can master space travel, they can leave Earth without making a mark of evidence that they were here, there are unknown dissapearances of people from all over the world everyday.
And I wasn't saying All supernatural stories ever are true. I was saying it was possible.

How do you know that they could completely erase that they'd been here? Space travel =/= super clean up.
On a second note, unknown disappearances generally happen for two reasons:
Those that disappear don't want to be found
Those that disappear are killed and dumped

Because long distance space travel is like inventing a super long range sniper to shoot a hole in a planet in another solar system. Except imagine the bullet as the spacecraft.
1. You have ALL those variables inbetween, if it even hits a small meteor the size of an ant it will tear a hole in the ship, at speeds like that velocity > size.
2. You would need to shoot the bullet so fast it goes beyond the speed of light, which requires technology like wormholes and warp drives, which both require MASSIVE amounts of energy and are just plain hard to invent.
3. So it's really you're opinion if Mastering Space Travel is harder then a super clean up.

It's comparing apples and oranges. There is quite literally no way to tell whether a species can master space travel and stealth, as they're not related in the slightest.

But yeah, I don't mind avoiding religion. You all know my views, you've heard everything I have to say on the matter before, and besides kdb's trolling/idiocy, there isn't really any need to cover old ground.
Are we seriously going to be so childish? So we are going to insult eachother eh?Why cant most of you be smart as Funden or OverZaelous(there Atheists and you dont see them insulting me for sharing my opinion )?Then ok if we are going to insult eachother fine, you Sir are a Lied to Idiotic Blind to the Truth Imbicile, which in his stupidity makes redicelous theroies about stuff our Lord Jesus Christ explains in a simple way.
And Levarus,on which side are you? When I say something about religion you are like
'Noo!Impossible!'
when somebody else says something about Supernatural Phenomena (Religions, demons, ghosts and everything else!) you start to
defend
it.I mean do you just like to disagree with me or what?

Ya know,i've been in Wowhead for 3 years now and mainly dwelled in the L&RP Forums aswell as the several other ones (Forums Games ftw). But i've recently discovered the Off Topic Forums i've got to say this place is horrible.Truly, such an unpleasent place to be in Wowhead (i never knew something like this can exist).Im trying to tell you the truth and yet you insult me/pick ony my senteces and all other possible methods.Just, insult all you want you heartless kids im leaving the Off Topic forums (and mainly this Supernatural thread) because i do not want to have a discussion with total Reta...no,im not a kid i am not going to insult any of you.Just do what you want to do,sin, kill, discuss God gave us free will and i see your using it with no shame.Thats ok,i guess God ment something when he gave us Free will.
I should have listened to Ryjack, now i see how he came to his conclusion.
And also,i'd like to apologize to Funden for saying he is an Atheist.I just havent seen him defend his religeous views so i decided he is like most of you.Gladly he is not as i checked his Account Page were he says his Religious Affiliation is Mormonism.
'KDB has left the thread'

Get in the #$%^in' sack.
(This is the only thing worth contributing to the thread at this point. 90% of its participants are people I would now gladly not ever cross paths with.)Thank you so much for linking that. That's the hardest I've laughed in days.

Despite how large and proud and stroked our egos are as a species, how deeply we worship and believe in the Five Senses (less senses available than some other creatures), we cannot possibly know everything, especially on matters outside the realm of those five senses of this particular reality.
That said, I believe that belief shapes truth, especially in the way it profoundly affects and shapes the lives of the people who believe in it. That's why I alluded to the Sandman concept (also a concept in the Planescape series) which says 'all beings are as real as we believe they are', and I take that quite literally. I believe all beings and things are possible in separate yet shared perceptions.
None of us are living the same reality, we are all perceiving and experiencing separate lives, yet we still interact across this gulf of being. The only difference between our waking lives and our dreams is *consistency*. Our waking is always the same, always more familiar and secure and strongly patterned, or tends to be at least.
That's why I picked the first choice, 'I believe in all, or almost all, supernatural entities'.
If I 'had' to pick a believe system, I'd say I'm a
Chaos Mage
. :D
