If you are called a huntard once, don't worry about it.
If you are called a huntard on all of your random dungeons, you probably need to review what you are doing, and become a better team player (like focus on the tank's target, and wait for the tank to get threat).

There is something about hunters for sure.
Its probably the fact that hunter is most self-centered class so they really don't depend on party. Also all of hunter "tricks" are there to help themselves.
There's really no need for hunter in party, he could be easily replaced with any ranged caster with more benefit to party/raid
(CC idea is also abandoned now when heroics are easy so no one cares that you can frost trap which still you can easily fail with. Mage can just target cast faster and safer.)

This so called "bad-stigma" is attached to all classes... mages complain about the bad-stigma, Death Knights complain, rogues complain, paladins complain... Every class have supporters and haters. I don't even think the numbers would look that different if overall statistics were made.
Being a long time DK tank, I know what you mean. Other than that, some tanks tend to suck, BAD, at keeping threat. My current main, a Feral Druid DPS, have huge issues with threat, single and multitarget, my Arcane Mage friend can wait 5 seconds after the tank have pulled, and STILL manage to pull.
Some classes are better at AoE than others. In a group pull, focusing on the tanks target is the safest option, but I know from experience, both Feral and Blood tanking, that at least these 2 classes easily can keep threat in 5-mans, regardless of the damage people unload on you off-targets. From what I've heard, Warriors with their Blood and Thunder are pretty much Epeen at AoE threat as well, and Paladins certainly doesn't seem to be lacking AoE tools either.
Tanks Threat per second is their dps * 3. Theoretically, this should mean that you need to do 3 times as much damage as the tank to get aggro. Threat generation is a joke in 5-mans, and is only ever a problem in raids. In my opinion, if the tank gets just a few seconds of threat generation before people attacks, there shouldn't be any problems. If there are, the tanks in question are doing it wrong.
I'm afraid it's an issue with balancing the choices you have to make as a tank. Some tanks thinks it's okay to cap the damage of the dps, and blame anyone who pulls aggro, even if this happens halfway through the fight, as long as they can boast 200k hp and tons of avoidance. Some thinks the only important part of tanking is keeping aggro, and will, inevitably, die from a severe lack of stamina or avoidance, or both. Unless of course the healer is incredibly good. It isn't only a problem on the gearing, but also on the playstyle.

I do foolish things on some raids or 5 mans when I'm not paying attention. Don't let it bother you, just try to remedy mistakes you make. It's gotten less and less name calling though since I'm top dps by a good 45% or so. Call me what you will, I'll just link the meters.
