Years ago I was an avid Pogo player with my son, an Airforce lifer, and cousin. One day the site was down & noticed an advertisement for free 10 day trial on WOW. Nothing better to do,so I went for it. Son and cousin called the next day...why u not on Pogo. I told them about WOW & they immediately installed the game. He made a Pally & I made a Lock. Cousin made a Mage. But I was in SW area and they were in IF. We were trying to find each other, and they kept talking about all the snow, lol. There was no snow where I was. We tried and tried to get to each others areas to play together. Finally about 15 levels in, someone was talking in chat about taking the Tram over to IF & was asking where it was. Was told to ask the guard. Thank goodness for trade chat! I headed over there and went straight to IF and out the front gate to see the snow... could hardly wait for them to log on & show them the tram, lol! Each day was so full of discoveries! So much we didn't know back then...like why was there a drawing of a guy in red armor on my screen? And a lvl "60" tailor that took me in hand at lvl 40 and replaced all of my gear...all of mine had been given from quest rewards, & I was usually doing quests that were green or gray for me...and told me what the guy in red armor meant! And I laugh now at the day I had to sell my dagger just to get on a flight path to meet said son for a quest (just prior to meeting the kindly tailor). Needless to say, before the 10 day trial was up, I headed to Target to buy the game. On the way home, I called my son and told him I'd just come from there and what I had bought. He started laughing, because he was at the moment in line to pay for his from Best Buy! Within a week, we discovered 'Wowhead', which became our in-game Bible. If ya can't figure something out, go here! Wowhead has always had an answer! It would be impossible to find this much entertainment anywhere......and 50 cents a day! Happy Anniversary Wowhead and may you have many, many more!
It's hard to pick just one. The moment of euphoria after downing a particularly difficult boss is always terrific (Algalon, Heroic Al'akir -- that bastard, a month of wipes!), as is the high of beating a really good arena or rated BG team, especially if it comes down to the last second. I fondly remember a rated BG win in Twin Peaks where the other team was good -- better than us -- and ahead in caps, and decided to just turtle until the clock ran out. We waited until there were about 4 or so minutes left and then set out en masse towards their base, leaving just our flag carrier sitting on the cap point in our flag room, and returned our flag shortly before time ran out. We capped with 5 seconds left on the clock and won the game.
My favorite memory is when i did my first cata herioc healing.I was so scared at first but at the end it all worked out in no one wiped thank god.
My favorite memory of WoW.. By far was the first time I did mount hyjal lvl 70 raid. It brought back O so many memories of the old school warcraft games. starting from warcraft one with all the castle walls and buildings around you, up too warcraft 3 with the whole story line with the scourge. It literally made me feel like i was actually inside the game itself of the ally territory and then so even siding with thrall against the giant frost wyrms. The whole time i was there, it kept reminding me mostly of wc3. all those days i spent playing the storyline and even the online custom maps... So just being able to see all the beautiful colors and scenery of the bases in hyjal, it made my years playing worth it to the max. It was so much fun. Even the raid itself was immense. Defending against waves of scourge and boss's, while protecting the ally npcs. then going against final boss's with having to use my slow fall at the correct time to keep from dying..... If only time could go back. <3
My favorite WoW memory is the awe and excitement when I first started playing a year ago: a moment 6 years in the making. When WoW was first released, I knew it would be a game that I would get sucked into... and the real world would never see me again. So with great patience and restraint, I held off on even trying it until I was through grad school, holding a steady job, and married to a husband that I was pretty sure would be OK with me slipping into a game for hours on end. My restraint ended when my husband bought Starcraft II on launch day, and neatly tucked inside the box was a card with a free trial for WoW. While my husband played the night away in SCII, I was having breathless moments as I took my first and main character, a night elf druid (I put so much time in careful selection of class and race, as well as a clever name), through Teldrassil. By Brewfest, I was so in love with the game that it was infectious enough to bring in some of my closest friends that had also never tried it, and my husband to boot. We had our own guild by the end of that holiday, and we haven't looked back since. I think I kept the free trial card...I should frame it.Thank you WoW for such an incredible challenging and social game, and WoWHead for showing us how to play it well.
My favorite moment in wow was when my Raid was going up for The Black Temple and we took out the first couple of boss's then we smothered Illidian Stormrage. it was a good feeling when i got the Achievement but also when i got the Blacksmithing Plans: Dawnsteel Bracers
The first time I walked into MC back before Burning Crusade when it was the instance that all the high level characters and guilds ran. I tried to get into a guild that ran it enough so I could see Ragnaros and I remember going through the attunement which seemed a lot harder than it actually was (touching a rock at the instance entrance inside BRD). I finally got a guild invite and we went in and started clearing trash and downed Lucifron to only find out that no one brought the water needed to put the fires out. It still makes me laugh when people say that they are going to MC for the achievement but when you whisper asking about the water they don't know what your talking about.
When BC came out, I had some friends who convinced me to dump my Human Warrior and go Horde. While I was leveling my Tauren Warrior, a day came that was cold. I had just bought a new album of music and had that playing. I was leveling through Felwood and the sun was beating in on the wintery day. For whatever reason, beyond my first time in Kara, beyond my first hitting level cap, and beyond the first time I entered Howling Fjord, that mundane questing holds a lot of warmth in my memory. This game has been with me for years, for so many reasons, but nothing beats just messing around on a day you have nothing else to do.
My favorite memory? Now thats a tough question!I still remember the very 1st time Dragons of Sen'Jin (the 1st guild i was in) killed Drak in Blackrock Spire. After countless wipes, at least at the time it seemed countless, it was like OMG we did it ! The joy in that moment, the sense of accomplishment, the kool loot it was so AWESOME ! :)I was playing an undead priest(Vista) who i still play today. Thanks for making me go back & relive that special time, Lorrac
