As the title alludes to I am back to WoW after something like a 13 month break? I dono... at least that... ANYWAYS, I'm coming back and playing my (currently level 71) Rogue. I plan on, more or less exlusively, PvPing (probably as Subtlety) when I hit 85. My question for all of you is: How should I level? and what spec would that entail?
I know that Combat is the best leveling spec and I played PvE combat back in the day so I wouldn't have any trouble picking that up. However, wanting to go subtlety at 85 for PvP, would I gain anything from leveling in an augmented subtlety spec? I.E getting a grasp on the subtlety mechanics that have changed etc.?
Any insights are more than welcome and greatly appreciated!
Thanks in Advance,
Drkon

How should I level? and what spec would that entail? You can do anything you want to level. Whatever you prefer.
I know that Combat is the best leveling specThat's not necessarily true. You will almost always level faster with the spec you like most. You can take out multiple mobs a lot easier as combat, but sub and mut can both take out a single target really fast, so they all match up to the same speedwould I gain anything from leveling in an augmented subtlety spec? I.E getting a grasp on the subtlety mechanics that have changed etc.?
You would get used to the abilities of sub, but that's pretty much it. Sub is more about control than anything in pvp at 85, but while leveling, things don't live long if they can even survive a prep ambush eviserate combo. You won't gain much skill with the spec until the 80's and even then, things still die too fast.
Just pick your favorite spec. You can't go wrong.

Combat is the best for multiple mobs at least, so it's arguably the best for killing things in a short amount of time.

I enjoyed leveling as sub far more than combat and I leveled about twice as fast. I would pull about 4 mobs at a time as combat, but the fact that I could line up cds as sub allowed me to kill 4 things individually faster than I could kill them at the same time as combat. I still say it's a matter of how much you enjoy the spec.

Whichever you want, it's nice and easy with Recup for any spec really.

You'll learn, yeah. Your best bet would be dungeons if you really wanted to imitate PvP, to get your Backstabs in, which is the main CP builder at 85
What I will say is that Smoke Bomb changes how Sub Rogues play by quite a bit, and that you'll need to spend time getting that right at 85, whichever spec you choose to level with.

I don't think there is any advantage in going combat to save time levelling as you will have to waste more time again learning to play sub for PVP.
Except for the fact that low lvl sub is
nothing
like endgame pvp sub.I enjoyed leveling as sub far more than combat and I leveled about twice as fast. I would pull about 4 mobs at a time as combat, but the fact that I could line up cds as sub allowed me to kill 4 things individually faster than I could kill them at the same time as combat. Except that combat
is
faster than subtlety.
The reasons you state are opinions while ours are facts.
Though:
Play what you enjoy
But dont run around with this bs on sub is faster if you enjoy playing it.
