The Book of Markoth, being an account of the Inquisitor’s travels across the length and breadth of Azeroth in service of the Church of the Holy Light of Creation.
Chapter One
For thus it was in the years since the opening of the vile Dark Portal that the Light and those who worship it have clashed with the forces of darkness. The great and terrible Legion of old has returned to Azeroth, and with it the forces of evil, shadow and fel have returned to Azeroth.
And thus it came to pass that I, Henry Markoth, took the fight to the forces of darkness wherever they gather.
For those who worship the forces of darkness are damned, and their souls forever taken into that eternal pit of torment, the Dark Below, where demons, worse than those which have ever walked the shores and mountains or sailed the seas of Azeroth, will ever be.
Some believe that there are other ways for salvation, and other forces of power which will succor them in the after, but I tell you now that those are false gods and evil creatures, who merely wait for the chance to take a soul and drag it into the eternal torment which they themselves remain.
Do not fall for the false promises of these so called “gods” for they are truly the most profane creatures to reside on Azeroth. Their very names cause madness in all that hear it.
If thy neighbor is suspected to be in league with these ancient gods, take it upon thyself to journey to their place of residence and burn it with cleansing fire, for the pure fire of the believers is the only way to cleanse the dark taint of these blasphemous gods.
And if thy neighbor doth turn upon thee in anger, take two pieces of wood and cross them together, uttering the prayer to the Light, and the Light will answer thee, and thy foe will be smote by the power of the Light.
But be warned, for if you take it upon thyself to turn upon thy neighbor out of anger, envy or shame, and thy neighbor be innocent, the Light will come upon thee in wrath, and you will be smote with power tenfold.
Chapter Two
Verily it came to pass that I had journeyed up unto the land of Duskwood, which was sorely afflicted with the power of the shadow, manifesting in the form of the dead, risen from their graves and haunting the dark places of the forest.
The Light moves in mysterious ways, and the Shadow must balance it, for the people of Duskwood are a hardy and good people, but for some heretics amidst them.
I came upon a congregation of devout followers of the Light, who were in the midst of offering their devotions unto the Light, and I joined them, as I was moved with earnestness and seriousness to join these people.
Yet as we sang a hymn of praise, the priest did stand upon the stand, and did roar blasphemous things, of which I cannot write. His face did then sprout the mark of evil and corruption, the profane mark of the Old Gods.
The congregation did flee, but I stood fast and confronted the beast, which roared horrible and insane words and phrases. I withstood his heresies and after much fighting, did strike him down with the blade of my sword.
The rest of the clergy did rise up against me, and I did slay them as well, with the edge of my sword, which shone with the true power of the Light and dispelled their blasphemous magics.
Of those who stand in the Shadow, the worst are liars and hypocrites, those who profess to love the Light, but in quiet corners doth pour out their heart unto the unpurified, for these are heretics.
Thou shalt not suffer a heretic to live.
Chapter Three
As soon as I had left Duskwood I came upon the land of Redridge, which was a good and clean land.
From the north it was afflicted by a taint, for in the north was the profane land of Searing Gorge and the Burning Steppe, which contained the demon worshipping Blackrock orcs.
Merely thinking about these horrible places set my blood pumping into a righteous fury, and I did set myself upon the paths to the Burning Steppe, where I went with a full stride and straight back.
No sooner than I had entered the Steppe then I was attacked by a band of Blackrock orcs, whom I did slay, with one exception, who did throw down his weapon flee the battle.
I gave chase to the orc, and came across an altar, created to please the dark lords of the Burning Legion.
My wrath, which had been somewhat sated by the orcs, was rekindled, and I attacked the stewards of the altar, demon worshippers most foul.
Demon worshipping is the most profane acts against the Light, being closely followed by false worship and Shadow worship.
To my surprise, another did attack at the same time as me, a dwarf with the look of the Light about him. We did call the holy vengeance of the Light upon the demon worshippers, and soon they were all slain or scattered.
I did query the dwarf, and discovered that he was one Khazran, a holy Templar.
Feeling much pleased, I extended an invitation to travel with me, and with grace, he did agree.
That night we had travelled far, returning to the Redridge mountains, where we found, under service of the Magistrate, a warlock.
My rage against the warlock knew no bounds, and I did challenge him to single combat.
To my surprise, the warlock agreed, showing courage and honor, and we proceeded into a duel.
His powers were vast, but my faith was stronger, and I neutralized his foul magics with my own faith.
The warlock showed no fear, much to my surprise, and called upon his profane magics once again, wounding me.
My anger was then stirred up, and I did cut him with the blade of my sword, injuring him to such a degree that he could no longer walk.
I was, however, impressed with his courage and the good deeds he had done for the people of Redridge, and I took him into town, and promised to return and bring salvation unto his soul.
That night we left the town, intent upon traveling to the Vale of Stranglethorn, which contained much darkness.

Author's notes:
I have a lot of really crappy old English, scripture talk. So sue me.
This is to explain the backstory of Henry Markoth and how he met Khazran and Bane.
I am also writing this for the use of any of my paladins/inquisitors to quote as needed, so I don't need to do an asspull, and since it is all self contained, easier to support.

The language? If so, then yeah, it's pretty crappy, I have to say.
Or the whole thing, which is also understandable.
This isn't necessarily supposed to be a good story. This is more reference material that I can quote later on.

I'm not quite sure I understand what the numbers are for. Is it supposed to be like a "Ten Commandment" thing? Or is it just placing the story in steps?

Verses, like in the Bible, etc.The language is fine, the perspective weirds me out to hell and back.
Expound?
(Also, out for the night, I'll read this in the morning and see if I can fix anything)

Oh, yeah. He's supposed to be that way. That's why I saddled him with Bane, so he doesn't run around and kill everyone in sight.

Thanks for the comments everyone =DHenry Markoth is someone I
love
to hate.
That's the point of him ;)
He's also for when the scenario goes completely Warhammer. I will be blunt, that was pretty awesome. I don’t know why, but it had a cool feel. The format is quite interesting, but it makes sense. Markoth is one hell of a character, the blind and zealous inquisitor is very fun to read about and to write about, I assume. During the duel at the end I almost saw a glimpse of a fair hearted Markoth that actually has some redeeming qualities, but that obviously did not happen, heh.
=D
He mellows out a wee bit when Bane comes along, but it takes awhile and you probably won't see it in this, just in other stories I write about him.
I might have a couple more chapters up for this today. I just kind of write it whenever the mood strikes me, and it doesn't have a clear goal or end point.
