There's a difference between "spending time" and "wasting time". This is a waste of time as it doesn't benefit him or anyone else. So what if he experiences each class? So what if he experiences both factions? Will he ever be a great raider? No. Will he ever be a great PvPer? No. He's just mindlessly leveling a bunch of characters for the sake of... leveling characters.
If he experiences each class he can know the ins and outs of each of them. Letting him help others that are trying to learn. This can also help in raiding, knowing each class, and being able to play a class that is needed. Even more so in PvP, knowing all classes can really help while doing arenas and bgs.
If you do ACTUALLY read this thread, he is doing it to experience the lore of both factions, not mindlessly leveling characters
Cheers

WoW is a big waste of time. Period. Some people like to PvP, others like to raid. Some play for achievements while others make twinks. If someone wants to make 1 of each class on each faction at level cap, then good for them.
Back OT, I enjoy watching lankybrit progress and get more characters close to the level cap. For someone to play as long as some people have I would kinda expect them to have several toons at the level cap or very close to it on most toons. My friend has been playing since TBC came out and he has several toons at 85, including a Shaman and a Warrior as well as a Pally, Hunter and several other classes at 80. He stopped playing shortly before Cata came out.
Also,
Cheers

Not to pick nits, but how did your friend get his toons leveled up to 85 if he stopped playing
before
Cata came out?
Another friend payed for 2 months of game time so they could play together. He didn't really 'stop' he just slowed down a lot. He downed the LK and was farming him and barely got on the few months before Cata came out.

So you mean, he quit towards the end of Wrath, but then came back for Cata right?

Good job Daefaroth.
Now, let's see who can get to 20 85s first. Probably me, because you say you have a hard time getting to your Horde toons :)
BTW: Why do you feel the need to cover any crafting professions more than once on a server? I cover them exactly once and if I need anything crafted, I do it on that toon.
EDIT: Ahhhh I see. It's because of the specialties.
Cheers.

Yeah I guess you could say that. He played enough to get his Warrior to 85, stopped then got his Shaman to 85 after the other guy bought him some play time.

Your progress is encouraging. I decided in January to level one of every race/class combo (Alliance) and one of every class (Horde); a truly silly number of toons. I already had 2 85s and a 73, so I thought, what the hell. I prefer the levelling game to the gear hamster wheel anyway.

Great. Now I'm going to have to do this too.
Seems a great many of us will be taking a number. Though I have been around since almost the beginning, I still have just the one 85 and 5 alts. This is mostly because I love my fury brute so much and I am in no rush to miss out on experiencing all content in the game. Having said that, I very recently threw my DK enough levelling to experience the beginnings of Cata as Unholy and have been appreciatively reawakened to the differences in classes.
Once, I said that I would be around until the servers go down for the last time. /echo, anyone?

Hi,
Monday updates are back!
TOP NEWS:
Two new level 85s this week, putting me at 11 overall, and over the hump. My Goblin Priest finally made 85, and my Dwarf Rogue Scribe also made it to 85. Only 9 to go!
OTHER STUFF:
Lots of Guild leveling with Hyjal dailies on the Alliance side, with Brits Ahoy now 19% towards level 3. Brits United isn't getting as much love, but it's about 55% towards level 2. My Draenei Shaman is getting some playtime now, as I really want to craft my own jewels at the highest level. My Gnome Mage is gearing up also, running dungeons for JPs and Hyjal Dailies for those 365 pieces. The Gnome Warlock is also getting some play time, as the next prof I want at a high level is Alchemy (to transmute Volatile Life).
Horde: 85, 85, 85, 85, 85, 85, 85, 85, 85, 62 - Guild <Brits United>
Alliance: 85, 85, 64, 33, 26, 14, 13, 22, 16, 55 - Guild <Brits Ahoy>
BTW: Just for grins, here's where I was on April 23rd:
****
Horde: 85, 85, 85, 85, 85, 85, 85, 83, 66, 60
Alliance: 12, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0
****

Combat Rogue (Herbing/Inscription) - Goblin (85)/Dwarf (85)
Ele Shaman (Mining/Jewlcrafting) - Orc (85)/*Draenei (64)

You really need to swap those Dwarf Rogue weapons around.

You're right. Higher damage in MH. I think I mis-clicked last time I switched back from my Fishing Pole.

LOL. I can't blame that on a mis-click. I haven't played him in a long time. I used to think that speed was most important for MH. I researched for my Dwarf again, and saw damage was most important.
Hey, thanks for caring.
Cheers.

Hi,
Well, I guess it's Monday.
TOP NEWS:
PvP. That's right, this PvE player has finally discovered PvP (well, not hard core PvP, but PvP none the less :)). After running Tol Barad a couple of times on Gnomeybrit (Gnome Mage) to make sure I could do the dailies, I started to really enjoy it. Then I saw the lvl 371 gear you could get and thought this was a great way to gear up. So, I've been running Tol Barad, and also Wintergrasp (lol) regularly and now have > 7250 Honor for the season. I know some people don't like Tol Barad, but we've been having some classic struggles for domination here on Perenolde. I also tried a random BG, but didn't enjoy it as much (but maybe that'll change when I get more PvP gear). I've also discovered the Equipment Manager (never used it before) and it's great to switch between my PvE and PvP sets.
OTHER STUFF:
My Draenei Jewelcrafter made it through Outland (mostly through dungeons) and now is having fun again in Northrend. I really like the Alliance Borean Tundra quests. Doing dungeons also. The guild is now 33% towards level 3 (mostly due to Gnomey's dailies (Hyjal etc.)).
Horde: 85, 85, 85, 85, 85, 85, 85, 85, 85, 62 - Guild <Brits United>
Alliance: 85, 85, 70, 33, 26, 14, 13, 22, 16, 55 - Guild <Brits Ahoy>
Horde/Alliance:
Frost Mage (Tailoring/Enchanting) - Troll (85)/Gnome (85)
