Yep, finished the game Tuesday morning. Took me about 7 hours, but I don't really mind. I like games to be concise. Had they artificially padded it out to 30 hours or whatever, it wouldn't have been nearly as fun.
I was really afraid that it was going to succumb to sequelitis, but I was pleasantly surprised to find it was just as good as the first, in my opinion. It has the same wit and humour (and not only from GLaDOS this time), plus an engaging, intriguing plot, an
epic
climax, and a fantastic ending. And it's absolutely beautiful to boot.

I certainly agree all the way on the second paragraph. Honestly, I would've liked it to be something that I couldn't finish in a day, though. I felt that the game, overall, was just too easy.I attributed the "too easy" feeling to the fact that I had played Portal 4-5 times and knew exactly what to look for when solving the puzzles. I did get stuck a few times, though, especially on the gel puzzles.
And I was kinda glad it was on the shorter side. One of the best things about Portal was always the dialogue, and I don't know about everyone else, but I have problems remembering all the best lines when there are hours and hours and hours of dialogue. Shorter time means less volume of information to remember. In addition, I liked being able to play through Portal in one sitting, with all of the action and plot development fresh in my mind, rather than being forced to stop in the middle and resume cold. But that's just my preference, I suppose. Some people can dive right back into a game/book/movie after stopping in the middle and get right back into the mindset, but I have a hard time doing that without designated stopping points like chapters in books or hubs in games (in, say Mass Effect, you finish a mission and go back to your ship; that's a good stopping point. In Portal 2, the story is fluid and one section of the game nearly always flows seamlessly into the next).
My only other complaint is that I can't just pick to go back to a specific level for achievements. You actually have to play through the entire game again to get to the part you want to play.Really? Hadn't noticed that. Perhaps they'll patch that in in the future, but if not, you could always go with an ad hoc solution of doing a manual save every chapter on the next playthrough and then using those as your level select.

I'm really hoping it's something that unlocks after beating coop, maybe. I figured it'd open up after completing single player, but it didn't. Didn't the first game have something like that?I don't remember.
I know that Co-Op has a different end credits song, though.

The entirety of coop is different from what I've seen. My assumption is that it takes place after the ending of single player. That's what the devs said.

I really enjoyed it but I was disappointed to see most of the levels from previews and such didn't make it into the game. (Such as the blue gel walls that you had to bounce between and the vents that sucked turrets away.) That and the lack of puzzles that required you to keep momentum. For example,
Test Chamber 15
and
Test Chamber 18
.
Edit: Found the second test chamber.

Shorter than the original? The original was pretty short.
I need to download this off steam.

Portal 2 spoilers follow:
You know, I really enjoyed GLaDOS in this one, perhaps even more than the original. I hated killing GLaDOS in the original. I remember her saying
"Look, we're both stuck in this place. I'll use lasers to inscribe a line down the center of the facility, and one half will be where you'll live, and I'll live in the other half. We won't have to try to kill each other or even talk if we don't feel like it."
and I really wanted to believe it. But I knew she had to be lying. So I did what I had to do. I felt so relieved when I reached the credits and learned she was Still Alive.
So now in Portal 2, she works together with you, and even though she insulted you ceaselessly in the beginning of the game, she even defends you verbally again Wheatley. Then at the end, she saves your life and expresses what appears to be genuine concerns for your wellbeing.
Now that made me happy, but I also felt this nagging feeling that her character might be getting derailed. Thankfully, that was excellently handled when she deleted Caroline and went back to her old self. But was she her old self? She said that she was letting us go because it was "hard," but then when we were staring down the barrels of her turrets, they didn't shoot at us. And then when we finally reached the surface, she sent us our not-so-dead best friend, the Companion Cube. But not only did she spare us, not only did she set us free, not only did she give us the Companion Cube, but she had the turrets sing us
a song
. And the translated lyrics of the song are quite telling:
The full lyrics (Italian + translation) THUMBS UP SO PPL CAN SEE:) cara bel, cara mia bel (dear beautiful, my beautiful dear) ah mia bambina, oh Chell (ah, my child (feminine), oh Chell) che la stima x2 (that she holds in esteem) e cara mia addio (and goodbye my dear) oh mio bambino caro (oh, my dear child (masculine)) perche non passi lontana, si lontana da scienza? (why not go far away, yes far away from science?) cara x2 mia bambina ah mia bel ah mia cara x2 ah mia bambina ah cara cara mia
I can totally see GLaDOS thinking "Well, I'll go ahead and admit that I'm not as cold and detached from Chell as I act, but I'll do it in a language she can't understand!"
GLaDOS is definitely one of the best video game characters ever written.

More like climaxes. It felt like it had more than one for some reason.

but I'm talking about shooting a portal onto the
goddamned moon
and sucking Wheatley and yourself into
space
. I was about to die, looked up and saw the beautiful full moon (it was beautiful not just because of the graphics, and because I love the moon, but because we finally got to see the outside again), and on a whim shot at it. I loved seeing the lunar module and the Earth from the lunar surface. 'Twas amazing.

Halfway there. Playing Chapter 6 now, and I expect to be done tomorrow.
Also, thank you Wowhead for spoiler tags. I can now read this thread somewhat spoiler-free :P
