I was at the mall with a friend earlier and he hadnt seen X men yet, so I wound up seeing it again with him. After seeing it a second time I got to thinking about the ending, and I think it would have ended a lot better if Magneto had killed everybody on the boats (or at least some of them) rather than Xaviar stopping him
I think it would have been a good way to explain why people hates mutants so much in the future, and why so many people were willing to get behind the mutant registration act. It would be a very
Civil War
type of thing.

They were mainly behind the Act because mutants are different; the fact that any one mutant kills doesn't matter to the majority of the population.
Edit: And it's better for Magneto's character: Show's he's above the human animals who did the same thing to his family, friends, and neighbors so long ago.

Yea but thats the kind of thing that Marvel tends to use as a plot device, they did it with Civil War when a bunch of children got killed by some ammaeture heroes fighting super villians that caused an explosion that took out a neighborhood. Then again in Seige the same thing happened at a football stadium and Norman Osbourne used that to justifie an invasion of Asguard.
It just bugged me that the movie tended to end with the whole "good guys win, bad guys lose, Magneto turns evil but its ok because he dosnt actualy kill or harm anybody (well besides xaviar)" that you just seem to see with every movie out there.

And Magneto's first public appearance had him attacking a military base to hijack a bunch of missiles and blow up a large number of targets in an opening salvo of the mutant vs human war; and he was stopped by the X-Men which set the stage for many things. They don't need to change history for a character just because it could possibly make a 'good' story in future when there is already lots of things there.

Well they already changed the history of the all the charactures. One of my favorite parts of the movie was Mystiqe, and I dont recall her ever being Xaviers step sister (its implied that shes actualy quite a bit older than he is). And that is actualy the exact kind of thing that Magneto would do, hes really not such an evil guy tbh, it always bugs me when people compare him to Doom or Thanos like hes some kind of ultimate evil. But he has killed humans before, usualy to defend mutants.
They change the history of charactures in all the sucesfull movies, they keep the important stuff the same though.

You can't really call any Marvel villain pure evil other then Osborn and Annilihus....well and
this thing
; but beyond that, all of the villains have a reason for doing what they do after all.

Even Osborn I wouldnt call pure evil, hes just insane. There are pure evil villians, but most of them are non humans, guys like Mafisto and Thanos.
You said earlier in this thread that Magnetos powers "get hit by the stick a lot" his morality kinda does too, sometimes his goal will be nothing short of the complete gennocide of all humans, where as in other cases he has actualy joined the X men and even took over teaching at Xaviers school when proffesor X supposedly died.
EDIT: Actualy there is one being more evil and vile than all the rest put together...
only one.

The one part were it showed the space ships launching their attack on the city made me think of 'Tos in SC. "*!@#! They have Carriers!"
Is it sad that's what I thought too? It actually made me interested in it for, like, half a second. Those ads reminded me that while his writing, IMO, is terrible, Michael Bay is a ^&*!ing awesome visionary director. Maybe he should just stick to that...

I agree that it will probably be bad. I'm just hoping that it isn't as bad as I'm thinking it will be.

To be honest, im not that caught up on green lantern cannon, I just know the basics. So I think I may enjoy this movie even if they bastardize the origin story. It dosnt really look that bad, the visuals I will say look very good.

Yes! *high five*
@Ryja, I'm the same. I've never read the comic or anything in my life, so I'm sure I won't care if the plot is stupid.

Gonna see the extended edition of Two Towers in theaters Tuesday. I can't wait, cause I never got to see LOTR in theaters, and Two Towers was my favorite of the movies.

I was just so confused. It was like, "Whoa, when did we go back in time?".
We don't get retro movie days...
