So I got kicked...

From an H Deadmines run on Foe Reaper 5000 because the Paladin tank "had to use LOH."
I guess he wasnt paying attention to the fact that 1) I was dead, and 2) he kept running around the ramp getting out of range/LOS of me.
I know, healers have short wait times and blah blah. It really irks me though, some people abuse the kick feature as if it's their own personal tool, you know?
I just had to vent. Does anyone have advice on how to deal with people like this and end up getting kicked out of a run for no good reason?

Healing targets LOSing their healer is part their fault and part your fault. I run into this all the time and as much as I could try to say they should try to stay in range of me, it's also my job to stay in range of them as they move for the fight.
That one is particularly annoying because of the edge of the ramp there. I usually try to say "please try not to go over the edge of the ramp as I'll be trying to stay up top to be out of range of bad stuff" in that place nowadays because of that.
However. None of that is a good reason to kick anyone. How often do people actually kick DPS who are doing 5k at 85? Not often. Oh gosh, the tank had to use a class ability? Yikes.

The tank was probably just mad because they had to bore down through a pile of dust to find the button for LoH...

1) I was dead
And that's why the kick was perfectly justified. Your own damn fault for getting killed. Move out of the easily avoidable void zones with giant visible warning effects that you really can not possibly miss unless you are blind and stop whining like a little girl.
There are WAY too many restrictions on the kick system and people can't even remotely use it as much as it would be necessary.
On average I'd say every random HC run has 2 people that deserve to be kicked for either doing crappy dps for failing at mechanics. The game just won't let me do that. It sucks.

Whenever I see something like that I call them out. Usually I have that annoying 2 hours kick timer (one of the ridiculously stupid restrictions I mentioned above) but calling them out is often enough to make someone else kick them instead.
Before kicking I of course tell them to read wowhead guides for their class to improve .. I'm so helpful ;)

The timers and other restrictions are there for people just like you, Megavolt. Some people are still new at the game and many others are still learning. If there was no kick timer, no one would ever finish a heroic run, ever.
The boss had less than 500k hp left when I died. I was attempting to chase the tank down the ramp and heal him when the boss nailed me with an enraged Overdrive.

That's bull^&*!. Without a kick timer plenty of people would finish dungeons. We just didn't have to pull the bads along all the time because Blizzard forces us to.
It would finally make people move out of the fire because standing in fire means an instant kick. That's the way it should be.
Learning is fine. I have never ever seen someone kicked for asking nicely about a boss he didn't know yet. But that's not what most people do. Most people run in without saying a word, fail horribly at the mechanics and then start to whine and make up excuses for being bad and stupid instead of manning up, admitting the mistake and asking for forgiveness and advice as they should. They start blaming others for their own failures (just like the OP here) and worst of all, most of the time they can't even be kicked.
And nobody has to do 5k dps in a dungeon, even when learning. Quest greens get you more than that. 5k should be an instant kick for any dps.
Its not the perfect system. But works fine enough. Getting kicked sucks and will continue sucking. Im in the same boat since Im quite often kicked for healing with PvP equipment. But Im still full epics. Which should count for something. Some people will actively seek any reason to kick you from the group. These reasons will rarely make sense...
Getting kicked may suck but not being able to kick people who deserve it sucks way more.
People rarely even inspect the group. I have a PvP piece in my healing gear, too - and it never was a problem. I even have some ilvl 308 blue crappy thing in my gear and nobody ever cared. On my alt my healing gear is still unenchanted and partly not gemmed - nobody ever even asked about it. I never got kicked, not once.
As long as the healing is fine and people don't die and you don't fail at the boss mechanics and don't annoy them somehow they won't kick you.
I'd go as far and say that I do not remember a single kick that wasn't somehow justified in my random HC runs. Ever. Yes, seriously. I have met plenty of idiots who would have deserved a kick but couldn't be kicked because of the timer. I have seen quite a few kicks that might not have been strictly necessary (dps doing 8k dps, dps did some minor fail at a boss mechanic that didn't wipe us, guy was just trashtalking, guy being afk for like 10 seconds before the kick vote started and so on) but in all cases the guy who got the kick did something wrong. Just don't do stuff wrong and you don't get kicked, easy as that. Don't go afk, don't stand in fire.
By the way I have also never seen anyone kicked for their bad gear. Not once. And I've tanked, dpsed and healed with barely cheated ilvl 329.
Just recently I had lots of fun in a Deadmines HC run with my Priest killing my own group. I used Leap of Faith to pull as many people into traps/fire in the nightmare phase. It was hilarious. And for some reason nobody kicked me. I totally would have deserved it and I can only assume they were cursing at their kick timers. The system obviously is way too forgiving.

If you ever get into a group where there are 3-4 people from the same guild, expect to be kicked. Do you know what "expect to be kicked" means? In case you didn't, it means you know that you will be kicked at some point in the instance for some reason, or some minor reason, or even for no reason at all. You will spare yourself of a surprise and perhaps some anger.
And MegaVolt is right. You died to your own failure. While some people may tolerate that, they do not have to, when they can get a new healer in a whim. It is a huge giant boss, the effect of his AoE is clearly visible, and you have Dash.

I find people leaving after the first boss because of a specific piece of loot (had a resto druid leave who needed on the agi polearm in Lost City) WAY more annoying.
Anyways, like parra said, dying on 1 fight doesn't really seem like enough justification for a kick unless you were screwing up on stuff before that. However, some people are more edgy than others when it comes to kicking people.

Agreed that dying is your fault, and will cause some people to kick you. That's a given, but in your specific case, Deadmines Heroic, that's a very bad reason. You can't practice Heroic Deadmines outside of heroics. So dying thanks to mechanics in Deadmines or Shadowfang keep, is valid, in my opinoin.
Generally though, the LoS or range issue is a bit silly. Both needs to keep moving, and both needs to keep an eye on each other, so you don't die. If you can't keep an eye on the healer/tank while tanking/healing, you need to practice a lot more.
Generally, communications is the key. If you kick people instead of trying to talk to each other first, you shouldn't be doing heroics with random people to begin with.

...taking the 5 mins needed to familiarize yourself with a fight isn't very hard either.
While I agree with that statement (Wowhead is awesome), I don't really find it "fair" to make it a requirement for doing heroics. That's worse than the Pre-cataclysm defence rating for tanks...It would be cruel to force people on to Wowhead or similar, just to do Dungeon Heroics.
Actually, Blizzard should just add a small "tutorial" for new players, before they can enter the Heroic, like an added "requirement" in the dungeon finder. That gives new players a chance to know what they are going up against.
If they just click through it without reading, their loss. Then they would deserve any kick they recieve.

^ That kind of griefing is the worst.
I had a Warlock in a lower-level dungeon who stayed at the front of the instance keeping critters feared so he stayed in combat and couldn't be kicked while we cleared the whole dungeon. Absolutely nothing could be done.

I actually feel like it's worse as DPS. As a healer, I do expect that a few of the group members in a random heroic will drop out, or be kicked. It takes awhile of getting the "suck out", before there's a solid group.
(Not to mention the fact that due to it's random nature, there is less of an obligation to stick around if they just don't want to be there. They'll take a 30min.)
Healing, when I know that the Tank is solid, and knows his role, no matter how much the DPS drops out, eventually we'll get good ones. I couldn't imagine being DPS and being pissed because you constantly waffle between suck/good Heals and Tanks.
