I think parrazell is on the right track. Think Thorim's trash and their sunder armor. Sometimes I'd only get 4 stacks of sunder armor, other times I'd get the full 20. Also, I can't recall, was Illidan's Shear avoidable, or only blockable?

@MegaVolt I have over 40% avoidance in my Agility gemmed gear, passively.
EDIT
: To clarify which post I was responding to.

Wouldn't it be more effective to have a DK tank pull and pop his 20% parry cooldown (
Dancing Rune Weapon
)? Dodging much is nice but even Druids can't compete with +20%.
When you parry, you still get a stack of the debuff. When you dodge, you do not.

Now, THAT is a strange mechanic, since they're both avoidance.

my point was that stacking stam>agilty doesnt make as big a difference as it has been made out to have
Actually Parra, my guild MT stacks agi, one night he swapped out both trinkets for stam trinkets. Suddenly felt like I was healing a bottomless well. I truly never expected the difference to be quite so strong but it really was noticeably harder to heal him.

Trinkets shouldn't make much more than 2% difference. I don't see how that could be noticable in single raid night at all. RNG will completely dominate 2% dodge on a single fight.

Before diminishing returns it's around 1.2% to 1.3% for a pure agility trinket so I guess 2% after diminishing returns shouldn't be too far off.
But I'm realy surprised by the 40% dodge. That's extremely high .. is that normal for Druids?
And is there some kind of general comparison between the tanks somewhere?
Avoidance percentage, armor, life and average damage mitigated by block / cooldowns etc (in some representative sample set of gear)?

As I said, it was honestly surprising. We tried many strategies, aside from standard healing practices, around it even bouncing him below the 35% activates on some of the trinkets every 30 seconds or so for maximum uptime. It just was noticeably harder to heal.

Didn't say Dodge. I said avoidance :). I'm including my chance to be straight up missed.
Also, LOL @ foley rationalizing WoW mechanics.

I've never changed my gemming really. I'm just now getting multiple pieces for slots, and I'm putting shifting in those. I dunno. The 40 number is with mostly Agility gemming, DPS enchants, tank spec and Dodge reforge.

Ever smash a slege hammer on something hard and feel the recoil?
It #$%^ing hurts!
Don't squeeze the grip to death then! lol

so wait, your agilty stacking tank has roughly the same dodge as my stamina stacking one?
I got an idea!
Maybe it's because compared to the tons of agil and stam that are on our gear anyway those few gems hardly make a difference?

That sounds reasonable to me.
