Yeah, I know the feeling. Set up a minecraft server in my house, ended up trying to build a lake (gave up because the water mechanics don't encourage it), but as a side effect I ended up with a beautiful three-story glass house full of light that you can see from a LONG way off.

I've never actually played the Pay for Version of Minecraft, I did play the freebuild and made some awesome things... Although the game looks like fun, I have almost no intention of paying for it.

people build mazes because it requires logic to escape / find the middle of.
Tests of logic are popular, hence mazes are
People play games with horrible game engines and ejoy it because you don't judge a game by its engine. Minecraft has the fun factor of building stuff, slaving over it and then getting it blown up by Israphael / a creeper.
Minecraft is the build building game there is, by a mile. It's a huge world, where you can interact with anyone, including friends, or have a server for just your friends. Or single player.
It looks awesome, and I might buy it, but I don't know how this computer will fare with it.

Minecraft is pretty fun. A mate of mine showed me a video that some guys made like a life size (for their characters) version of the star trek enterprise. That would have taken a while.
Anyone wana try making a Super-Star Destroyer? To make a 1:1 scale one (they are 8km's long) would be roughly 5500 blocks just to make a line the full lenght of the ship (assuming you count each block as a "Pace").

Isn't Wows engine really old? So why isn't Wow losing players, are we going to judge Wow after the engine it runs on?
Games are played because we all enjoy them or find something that keeps us going, with out this we wouldn't play games would we?
Minecraft is one of those games that just stops being fun after a while, because there is no greater goal, atleast this is my opinion.

Because engine is the only thing in a game. But that doesn't mean that it have no effect on the game.

Hmmmm that's true I guess, but doesn't Wow counter a bad engine with phasing? Or have I got your message wrong?

Minecraft was getting to be a little slow for me, but my favorite Brit, jx23, just posted a server tour of the best server I've ever seen, hands down.
Check it out.
