Dungeon Maps: Why is there no map when I solo a Dungeon?

I stopped joining Dungeons because I was a new player and everyone was freaking out
on me all the time instead of helping learn so I simply got into Battlegrounds. Now I have a lvl 85 warrior
and have been having a blast soloing Dungeons I skipped while leveling my character in Battlegrounds.
My question is when I find the Dungeons on my own and enter them I cannot get the Dungeon Map to come up for the Dungeon I am in? IIs it a key stroke or a settings thing?
Why can't I get a map to come up when I enter a Dungeon solo?
Thanks
A

The reason is that only Wrath and Cata dungeons have maps. I'm guessing you haven't gotten to Wrath content yet, and are currently plowing through a slew of dungeons that never had maps made for them.

Ahhh that makes sense. thanks
I have avoided using add ons. Would you or anyone recommend a map plug in/ add on.
I weary of going down that road but you can waste so much time in a new instance.

Classic dungeons now have maps as well. It's just BC that's lacking now.

I haven't seen any addons that elegantly handle dungeons with multiple tiers, which makes them worse than useless, pretty much. You might have to wing it. Fortunately BC dungeons are, as I recall (probably poorly since that was five years ago) are mostly pretty linear.
And yeah, what Pwn said.

I got the map addon
Atlas
when I moved into Outlands. It does the job well enough, though it was nice to be able to see your cursor on the in-game map when in Classic instances.
Regarding what Pezz said, so far I haven't had any major problems finding my way around the BC instances with these maps... they're better than nothing at least.
