Undead Paladin is currently the best combo. Spec Beast Mastery for faster leveling.
I hear Draenei Warlocks are also pretty good. I think Assasination was their top spec?

this, how are you supposed to enjoy a game you play for if you just play what other suggest?

Since the new expansion..classes have a truer feel then they did previously, so I would recommend just rolling a bunch of classes and seeing which one takes.
The best class/race doesn't have a one size fits all answer to it.
One other note, if raiding becomes your focus then certain classes will be expected to assume a particular role no matter what you may prefer to play.
I.E. You may enjoy leveling an enhancement shaman..but in raids just about every shaman is expected to play a healing role. So be aware of this before you level a toon to 85 and realize you don't like healing.

There is no best class and race. It's preference. Otherwise, everyone would be the same class and the same race. Welcome to WoW. You'll fit in nicely with the general populace.

As said above, there is no definitive best class/race, or combo thereof. It is purely down to what you enjoy playing.
But, saying that, some races/classes excel in certain situations. Humans for example get their own battle-master trinket in the form of a racial, which helps in PvP.
