Deathwing is not a random Dragon. Go read Day of the Dragon, War of the Ancients, play WC2, or quest in Twilight Highlands.
Go read three books written about a video game.... Really?
Go play a video game that was release 15 years ago? Really?
The complaints about Deathwing "coming out of left field" are valid, but so what. WoW lore has always been paper thin.
lol? The complaints about Deathwing "coming out of left field" are
not
valid. Deathwing is an incredibly important individual, although he's been missing for awhile.
And why not ready three books written about a video game? Don't judge a book by its cover, right?
And lastly, why not play a game that was released 15 years ago. I still play Star Fox 64 all the time, because it is a good game.

Cata has nothing to do with Casuals/Hardcore players.
Cata has everything to do with can I do my
job
right.
If you can't do your
job
right your gonna fail and lag behind while the people that know how to play are gonna be ahead of you.
I thought Wow was a game, not a job! :)

The problem with the numbers argument is this:
Example A:
Tanks with 100k hp and bosses hitting for 50k is essentially the same as tanks with 1k hp and bosses hitting for 500.
Example B:
Bosses with 10M hp and players hitting 20k DPS is essentially the same as bosses with 10k hp and players doing 20 DPS.
The only difference is the perception of getting stronger (caused by larger numbers). The only "valid" argument about numbers is if you want your level 5 quest gear to be usable at level cap, which isn't that valid an argument at all.
On the Deathwing issue: If you aren't willing to explore the lore, don't claim it isn't there. I also included an in-game option that gives a lot of background, questing in Twilight Highlands, but that involves reading the quests and actually watching scenes so that may be too out of the way as well.

I wonder if the irritation with Cata has not to do with other things, then just...cata.
I reckonize a lot of the complaints here.
But you know what: I am playing this game now for over 5 years straight, coming spring it's 6 years ago I started. Six years....that is long. But last year, when summer came...summer came as it always did. ICC became boring, people didn't log. Then the wait for cata started. Because that was going to come in October, no...November....DECEMBER. In those last 6 months, please raise your hand if you still was happy with the game? Not me. It was already boring then. But we waited for Cata because that was going to be AMAZING.
And in essence it is. Cata is good. But I think the expectations were too high. And now it's here....it's not living up to it.
It's like being in a relationship that was already 'meh' and then getting married 'because we need to spice things up'. You are still in the same relationship and it's still boring. But the marriage was supposed to change that! Right?
If you feel it's no longer what it was, perhaps it's not the game that is bad/not living up/not interesting enough. Perhaps it's time for you to do start thinking what other things are fun to do except playing wow, because it has been fun but now it's time to say goodbye....

Please read both my posts regarding the books again. I listed options. The books are "expanded universe" based on the Warcraft games. I'm not forcing anyone to read the books if they don't want to. I'm suggesting they can read them if they want to know more about Deathwing and the Dragonflights. I also said you can go play WC2, which features Deathwing, and to quest in the Twilight Highlands which has a large chunk dedicated to Deathwing.
The only thing I say to read the in the quoted post is the quest text.

It's not really fair to force people to read books they might not be interested in to get the lore. I haven't read the books and frankly I'm not interested in them because I feel to old to read fantasy books. I do enjoy the game, I like casting my spells and such but I've read enough fantasy books (Dragonlance) as a teenager to know they are not my stuff anymore. Recently read "The stolen throne" (Dragonage fic) and while it certainly was well written it wasn't as engaging or entertaining as it could have been compared to other literature.
/headscratch
So...you are not too old to play a fantasy game and you like casting spells but you are too old to read fantasy themed books? I think instead you must be too young to know how silly all that is, you're never too old to read a book. You might not want to read that genre because it isn't appealing to you but age doesn't have squat to do with it.

There is a little more to the statement then I am too old. Once you have read LOTR, The Narnia books the Thomas the Covenant series a bunch of Conan books and to a large extent the Dune series you really can't stomach much more sword and sorcery bullsh*t, it gets to be too paint by the numbers tedium.
Also books based on video games and movies tend just be embarrassingly stupid. Yes that is a generalization but hey...

How is Deathwing not involved in WoW lore. BWL, final boss, Nefarian, who's his daddy? Onyxia the reappearing recycled dragon made of spare parts, same father. Its Neltharion, Deathwing. If you read the little freaking booklet that comes with the cata expansion, it has a brief overview of what happened and why Deathwing has come and is laying waste and a little bit of history on him. No excuses, but i haz to reed da bookz. People claim Cata is so much different, people complain there are more bots in cata. FALSE. How many flying orcs have you seen in orgrimmar spelling out some stupid website name since cata came. None. How many did you see previously, almost everyday a bunch of floating orcs were making people lol at them. People act as if battleground bots have never existed before now. Apparently those people don't pay much attention at all. Pretty much every day on pvp section of the forums there have always and will continue to be posts regarding bots and how the bad blizzes never fix them. The truth is Blizzard does make attempts to fix them, there have been times where tons of bots were banned all at once. The problem is, the people who make the bots always can figure out ways to hotfix blizz's hotfixes before blizz can. And by that time Blizzard must figure out what changes to the code have been made to allow the bot to continue after their hotfix. Its like trying to play chess versus someone who can read 5 moves into the future. It won't end up well. Therefore yes unfortunately as in any other game bots will remain. boo hoo sad story. No Rift isn't going to change that, there are likely already bot programmers already in the works for various annoying tasks that many players will be too lazy to do themselves. Then there will be QQ against the rift devs about bots. It's going to be like that everywhere you go learn to live with it and enjoy the time with the game you already love. And for those claiming the ONLY NEW CONTENT is 80-85, you better have all the new loremaster achievements if you are claiming that. Which in that case the mark for you would be just plain stupid, as the leveling experience has quite changed. Since cata hit and I got my dk in 351 gear, I decided to roll a few toons and see how the new questing experiences are. To tell you the truth I LOVED IT. My shamans already up to 80 (2 bars from 81 as of this post) because I can't stop playing it. Its fun. People QQ'ing about their current class, try rolling a new one. The new areas are loads of fun. Even in 80-85 content, the questing was very enjoyable. Hyjal, full of lore, has always been a major topic even before cata in the game. It was a fun zone, learning new stuff about Cenarius, Ragnaros, Seeing Baron Geddon, and dying 9x til you figure out how to do the quest with him for the first time. It was all enjoyable. Vashjir, I'll admit is the only 80-85 area I haven't done all of the quests in but it was a nice change. The whole underwater perspective was something new that at first I looked down on, but soon I learned to like. Uldum, the area of GNOMEBLIDERATION, and a goblin hitler that gets mad when you only collected 8 relics when you were supposed to collect NINE! NINE, NINE, NINE, NINE, NINE! And if you don't enjoy driving a fiery core of death killing a thousand gnomes (more if you really like the quest and don't want to turn it in until your sadistic tendancies have been fulfilled.) Then finishing up with Twilight Highlands. It was interesting to say the least. Especially the red dragon quest lines there. For those complaining Deathwing has nothing to do with lore. L2QUESTHERE. Well I guess thats enough, however there are still gonna be whiners about this comment going blah blah blah Deathwing never existed before cata blah blah blah, but to be honest after wasting 4k characters of my time, I probably won't acknowledge a response like that as a person having a brain.

I actually loved WoTLK and am not a huge fan of Cata. I think that Blizzard made some truly unique experiences in the WoTLK expansion. The trial of the champion was one I can think of. The lore was really cool and I can honestly say that It felt like this whole new awesome area to quest and explore.

Why would anyone whine about the lore behind Deathwing and then say I will not read a book about him because I'm to old/I don't want to read a book at all, well if you don't want to read a book then why not look at WowWiki or some site alike, the lore is there you just have not found it yet.
I apologise if something like this is already in the thread.

You for the necro, both for Pwntiff's quote.
well if you don't want to read a book then why not look at WowWiki or some site alike, the lore is there you just have not found it yet.
Just fyi, the website's team and users have mostly switched to Wowpedia.org.

Since I actually agree with the above I figured I'd attempt to make a little easier to read.
Personally, I'm happy with Cata. A lot of the complaining about it seems, to me, to be very much "Seen it all before, I want something new", where 'new' is actually a new game. I'm sure I'll want something new one day, but for now I'm as happy with the game as I've ever been.
