So my druid is coming up in levels and will be 85 soon. but im kind of stuck in a rut. I have a dual spec like most people do now since its only 10g which makes me angry because i spent 1000 on it back in the day but regardless my question is this. If im keeping my Balance spec what should i choose my secondary spec as Feral Tank, Feral DPS or Resto what im curious is what in the oppinion of the forum is going to be the bigger need whats going to top the charts and in the end what is going to be WORTH it? tell me what you think.(##RESPBREAK##)12##DELIM##MasterOfDisguise##DELIM##Moved to the Druid forum.

I play a Feral Tank and Resto Druid because my 10 man does not have either but we do have a Kitty and Balance druid as well in the group so it only made sense.

drop balance, spec feral tank and resto healer (like I do)
Bear goes with Cat.
Chicken goes with Tree.
If you want to give reasonable advice about spec omcbos make sure you say these first.
Boom and Bear, Tree and Cat or Tree and Bear work just as well too but you have to have multiple sets.

My plan is to spec as a bear tank, and dual spec into resto. They seem to be the most interesting ones that I've come across, and the most useful to have lying around.
It really depends on what you want to do.
If you want to help a few mates run 5mans they having a tank and a healing spec is probably perfect.
In a raid however having a dps off spec is much more practical. You will often have encounters that need a varying amount of healers so having healers that can re-spec to dps is pretty awesome. Same goes for tanks, having one with a dps off spec is very useful so in less tanks are needed you can stay in the raid and just re-spec.
While I personally like feral dps much more than balance (cats are pretty, fat chickens are not) it is usually an advantage to be a ranged dps in a raid and not melee.
Having Bear with Cat means that you can share select pieces between the two sets, and the same for Balance and Resto, but again, ideally, you'd have two completely separate sets for the two specs.
I thought resto and balance as well as feral dps and tanking share pretty much all gear with the exception of trinkets and the meta gem. That's just 3 items to keep in the bags, not really a completely separate set.

Whatever you want to play.
Regardless of the good ideas and such, this should still be the number one consideration.... You play Balance? Yeah, resto would be an ideal choice, but would you like to play as a healer? If the answer to that is no, then you really shouldn't, regardless of how easy it is to gear for it when you already have Balance gear.
I play kitty/resto, because I love those 2 specs. Neither a "laser chicken" nor a fat bear seems interesting to me. So I'd rather deal with the issue of gearing 2 completely different specs, than have an off-spec I dislike.
And since people mention queue times and raid-spots... Please don't use that as an argument for why it is a good idea to take either a healer or a tank. The worst healers or tanks aren't the undergeared ones - it's the ones who dislike their role, and are bored/don't care how well they actually do. I've seen too many tanks, especially Death Knights and Paladins, sign up as a tank, because their off-spec allowed it, and it gave them instant-queue times... those groups typically fail.

Step 1: pick a main spec
Do you like to heal?
Do you like to tank?
Do you like laser beams shooting from the sky?
Are you for fite?
Based on your answer you should be able to choose your MS
Step 2: pick a off spec
Can you heal?
Can you tank?
Do you really want to gather/maintain both a physical and a magical armor set?
Choose a 2nd spec based on the answers to these questions.
I like to heal, so I am MS resto, I don't want to maintain a physical armor set in addition to my main set so my OS is balance.
Saved that list! xD It's awesome for future references ^^ *thumbs up*

Just be aware that if you choose Feral Tank and DPS specs, that the gearsets to both are rather unique if you don't want to be constantly reforging every time you change specs. Bear gear will be loaded with reforged dodge rating, stam gems etc. Your cat gear should certainly not.

Yeah, to be 100% optimal, you do need a seperate gearset for each Bear and Cat, but, if you're either on a budget, a casual gamer, or have no interest in doing anything other than 5 mans, you can do it all on one gearset without difficulty.
From the Feral Druid Guide thread, Stat Priorities may be as follows:
Bear: Agility > Dodge > Mastery > Expertise > Crit > Hit > Haste
Cat: Agility > Mastery > Crit=Haste > Expertise > Hit
What this basically means is that if you use a Cat gemmed/reforged/enchanted gearset with a tanking build, you should be plenty capable of tanking 5 mans just fine. Since it's not so focused on effective health, I wouldn't assume a properly gemmed/enchanted/reforged cat gearset with a tanking build would necessarily be appropriate for tanking heroics right at ilevel 329, but overall, it should work just fine and not clutter up your bags too much. If you're feeling frisky, collecting 'tanking' jewellery is a fairly inexpensive way to improve your tanking without costing the extra bag space for a complete gearset, the money in gems and enchants, or the time of not being able to fill a role because of an incomplete gear set.

I dual-spec as Laser Chicken / Bear
After trying a wide variety of melee classes, I come to a realization that no, I
don't
like repositioning myself every time my enemy moves, and yes, I
like
big damage numbers on my enemies.
On the other hand, one of the biggest problems faced in pugs is the lack of tanks; therefore, a Bear seems like the logical choice to me. I
can
pick Restoration, except that a) Tree of Life is no longer a permanent form , and b) healing is boring. And to have two DPS specs is just silly.
And yes, I do carry both my tanking and DPS gear at the same time. Oy, that's 14 bag slots permanently occupied.

I'm DS kitty and bear, and I get by with sharing most gear (with exception for trinkets).
