would you say, this is a viable macro for raiding or can you think of situations where this will be a dps loss:
/castsequence reset=17/combat/target Flame Shock, Earth Shock, Earth Shock, Earth Shock

Why not just go with
/cast Flame Shock;
?

I prefer to use my
#showtooltip
/cast Flame Shock
/cast Earth Shock
/cast Frost Shock

I don't see the problem with the castsequence macro.
One less thing to think about. You can even make it more versatile:
#showtooltip
/castsequence reset=8/combat Flame Shock, Earth Shock, Earth Shock, Earth Shock
/cast Earth Shock
/cast Flame Shock
I'd not reset it after a target switch since (afaik) you only want to cast FS with the UE buff up and the shock cooldown is lower than the UE cooldown. Switching targets won't make you have UE available and thus you don't want to cast FS next (again, afaik).

Thanks for the responses.
i was playing around with the macro on the target dummy yesterday, and noticed, that is is not working as intended.
the reset=17 is applied after the second earth shock as well, so the flameshock is not correctly applied 17 seconds after the first flame shock, instead it gets applied 17 seconds after the 2nd earth shock.
i changed it to
/castsequence reset=17/target/combat Flame Shock, Earth Shock
which is working properly.
I do not use mod:shift or mod:alt, because i play with a keypad on the left hand and mouse on the right, and i dont have mapped shift-1 or similar keys on the keypad.

reset will start when you hit the button the last time, not the first time.
But why only one ES? Two should be fine and make it so that every FS will be cast with UE active.

I'm reorganizing my interface so I'll have two cast-bars going... one for my most used abilities in any spec, and one that'll rotate (page-flip) with my mouse's scroll-wheel. So, space isn't so much an issue. I'd rather punch buttons than try to get the modifier+key just right.
