Skinning help for you! (best place to farm)

While following others around and skinning their kills during peak questing hours may be a fairly fast way to get some leather, it's inconsistent. The most efficient way I have found to farm leather requires 2 players, at least one of which has some form of CC (though this isn't required).
Enter the Lost City of Tol'vir instance. If you look to the right and left, you'll see packs of 4-5 tigers on each side, with one elite mob. Simply CC the elite (or tank it if you must) and burn down the tigers. Each tiger gives 1-2 leather. When the tigers are down, you can exit the instance to reset the elite mob. Then come back in and skin. Repeat for the other side. You can reset and enter the instance 5 times in an hour. For an hour's work, we netted 110 leathers, which is 22 heavies! We did this with a lvl 85 beartank and a lvl 82 pally using repentance on the mob.

Nice to know I'll have to solo it on my hunter with my tank pet.

While the best farming seems to be in the Lost City at 85, the best spots i've encountered while leveling are throughout Mt Hyjal (before phase-out), then along the entire length of the river in Uldum. While Sethria's Roost in Hyjal is a rather fast respawn, there are usually at least a couple of other skinners present. In Uldum, I've been able to skin with little/no interruption, yielding approx. 12-14 stacks/hr.

Tol Barad after a victory also yields a &*!@ton of leather. Just go to the crocolisk area and wait until people start doing dailies....which often happens to be after a Tol Barad match! =D

Just to expand on the post above, there are always 5 tigers that drop a minimum of 2 savage leathers, with a chance of up to 4. The elite mob should be burned if you can take the damage. At about 50% health, the elite channels damages to each of the tigers, killing them for you. It's very easy to solo as a hunter.
The only other thing I'll add is that if you're looking for the blackened dragon scales, head to the twilight highlands. If you fly to the very top of the of the big tree in the obsidian area, can't remember the exact name, ranged can burn the dragons just hovering above the branchs. They seem to have about a 33% drop rate on the scales, their respawn timer is insanely fast, and the best part is they don't attack back.
Happy gathering!
That is a great tip, thanks! You're right, awesome place!

Nothing beats Tol Barad during peak hours right after a win. If there are no other skinners, I can get 10 stacks or more per hour without trying, and that is without even killing anything, just taking people's leftovers. If there is another skinner or two, I will actually kill some crocs myself, which lowers the leather/hour ratio, but gives croc tail meat which is very sellable, and green/blue drops. I am milking this for all it is worth while the price of leather is still high, and will worry about leveling my other toons once I am nice and rich (only sitting on about 50k gold right now).

^ this. Interest mentioned it also.
I don't know why more people don't farm Tol Barad. Every day I do the dailies I see 5-10 crocolisk corpses lying around. I don't have a high-level skinner or I would be doing it. Besides, as I am killing the crocolisks I am wishing for a skinner to speed up the respawn rate. :D

200-250 on Proudmoore (high population)
120-180 on Dragonmaw (medium population)
300-400 on Garithos (low population)
I thought that skinning values would go down due to the new Worgen race and their skinning racial skill advantage. But from what I've seen it's gone up since Cataclysm.
