Gemming and Reforging as SV

I keep hearing from different people that either Crit is the best stat for SV or Mastery is, so I do not know which should be top priority for stats. As for Gemming, I'm trying to find a balance of gems that activate my meta but I'm not quite sure where to look to find some answers on this.

Well, without an armory to go by I'll try to give some basic information.
Excluding Agility, our primary stat, which gives the largest dps boost (think Str for a DK or Warrior)...
First, go for the Hit Cap (8%, or 961) and try to stay around it, reforging off Hit or reforging another stat into Hit to maintain if possible.
Crit is the next to go for. Try to go for this stat as much as possible when at the Hit Cap.
Mastery and Haste are both debatable. I've heard that it's Crit > Mastery and Haste is somewhere below Crit as well and Crit > Mastery = Haste.
As for the meta, you may just want to wait until Blizzard applies a client side patch to fix the retarded "more blue than red" requirement. Until then just go Delicates in Red and Blue (I have yet to find a "Nightmare Tear"-like gem for Cataclysm yet) and Deadly (Agility/Crit) gems in yellow slots.
If you need more information, use

to help fill any gaps I may have missed.

The reason for this is with a cast speed of 1.66 on CoS, you can comfortably fit 3 CoS per rotation without having to delay Explosive Shot, something you should never do. There are other haste points you could shoot for, however at current gear levels you'd sacrifice too much in other stats to reach them.
Eh, you naturally hit that with blues though, so oftentimes you can go right ahead stacking Crit right off the bat.
Interesting to know. I was actually checking to see what my Cobra Shot cast was when I saw this (a bit under 1.66, so not too bad).
You hearing something doesn't really mean anything, especially at the point Hunters currently are; where your stat weights greatly fluctuate depending on the amount of haste/crit/mastery you have. Your best bet is to plug your data into femaledwarf, or test it on a dummy. What works for one person and their set of gear probably isn't going to work for you.
To be honest it works quite well for me. I can't ever confidently say a theory is correct though.

Well at your level of gear, yes, it probably would work. Once you have more options available, and thus more possible gear theories, it becomes more complex and that's when you have to start to look at your character specifically, rather then general stat weights for the class.
I'll probably get around to doing that. It's also the same reason I'm just "randomly" enchanting my gear with what I have available as opposed to maximizing just for the sake of doing Heroics (yeah, I also have an Enchanter alt...also at 85 lol).
Its not as simple as reaching the hit cap and then stacking Crit. With so many ways to customize each piece of gear (Reforging, Gems, Enchants). There's very likely to be one way to go about reaching this cap that's superior for the other methods. For example, while you could reach the hit cap by reforging all your Crit into hit - which would be a total waste, you could try to reach it by perhaps reforging away from hit (into another stat) on certain pieces, and reforing to hit (from another stat) on others. Things aren't so cut and dry, especially with the power to reforge your gear.
True, I'm still saying the fact is indeed there.

Well that sounds absolutely foolish. I'm not sure why you keep disregarding Heroics as a worthwhile tier of loot - we've gone back to a Classic WoW style of thought in this expansion - they're worth doing and worth doing at the best of your ability.
I didn't say I was disregarding them, just that I don't think I quite need to min-max like I would for a raid.
Why would you settle for mediocrity when you have the resources available to you to do things properly? Think of your character as a representation of yourself; would you walk around outside in the middle of winter, mostly naked, with your button down shirt unbuttoned, just because in a few months Summer will come and it's going to be warm?
To be honest, it's so I can save myself some money. I already spent quite a bit power leveling my Engineering and I like to preserve my cash, even though I have more than 100k.
Otherwise, I would've bought BoE epics or leveled my Leatherworking up and crafted myself slightly better gear or something like that.
E: Also, my Hunter isn't my main focus at the moment. Sure I do do some runs on him, but I'm also working on several other projects, such as the instance on this site, and I need to level other characters up to 85 as well.
Now before this ends up like that other thread, would you mind not bothering me about my playstyle?

You're the one who brought your playstyle into this thread - not me. Perhaps if you weren't so inclined to push it on other advice seeking Hunters (like the OP 'fox436') there wouldn't be an issue at all.
You assume it's my playstyle, yet I provided a source proving otherwise.
I'm just giving some advice that he doesn't exactly have to follow, but I'm hoping it at least points him in the right direction. Also, pot calling the kettle black? By your argument, you are also forcing your play style upon him (and also me based on your other posts).

Alright I think you need to drop a ton of hit rating. Reforge as much as you can until you drop to 8%.
Change the gems you have so that you're mainly focusing Agility as opposed to using Stamina hybrid gems. Survivability is an important concept in PvE now, no doubt, but being able to maximize your output is important enough to warrant the use of non-Stamina gems.
Also, move a point out of Serpent Spread (Improved Serpent Sting damages based on a 15 second duration either way when Multishot applies the Serpent Sting, and that's where a large portion of the AoE damage comes from) and maybe even from Careful Aim and put it into Sic'Em. Moving points from One With Nature to Careful Aim will help with the damage output of Cobra Shot early on in fights, though it'll really shine on fights where mobs have high health, like raid boss encounters (to be honest, this is a matter of opinion. For now, I keep my points in One With Nature because I feel that for Heroic Bosses this doesn't warrant the use of Careful Aim, but the option is up to you)
You haste is quite low. Taking Lanath's suggestion to get a 1.66 Cobra Shot cast time may be ideal.
