Have you guys actually tried this spell on PvE or it's just pure PvP spell?
It's actually pretty decent in PvE. I steal Shadowbolts and Fireballs quite a bit. Most stolen spells tend to hit around the 20-22k damage mark, making it better than a crit Death Coil in most cases.
Of course, this should only be used after all your interrupts. It's better to negate the spell outright in most cases and lessen healer pressure.

so it does actually copies a spell..?
coz the tooltip says it just absorbs damage or something like that.
Dark Simulacrum
Reread the tooltip.

Its fun to use in both cases, but in PvE id rather just use Mind Freeze or Strangulate to negate the spell entirely -- less pressure on the healer that way.

Dark Simulacrum
Reread the tooltip.
Pretty sure he read it correctly.
Against non players, only absorbs some harmful spells.
If you have a 5th grade education, this means that in PvE encounters, its basically a bubble, and not a spellsteal.

Allow me to clarify. He asked:

I told him to reread the tooltip because it answered his question and it says nothing about absorbing damage. Allow me to illustrate.
Places a dark ward on an enemy that persists for 8 sec, triggering when the enemy next spends mana on a spell, and allowing the Death Knight to unleash an exact duplicate of that spell. Against nonplayers, only absorbs some harmful spells.
And now, the important part:
allowing the Death Knight to unleash an exact duplicate of that spell.
Death Knight unleash an exact duplicate of that spell
exact duplicate of that spell
duplicate
Finally, to answer the heal, the tooltip again answers that:
Against nonplayers, only absorbs some
harmful
spells.

Hey, the Earth guys trash in Stonecore gives me 20k non-crit Lava Bursts :/. Not a gamebreaking spell, but pretty fun.

The
Seaswell
in Deadmines hit 150k on 3 targets. Just make sure their target doesn't chain your party members.

So since we are getting nit picky on the tooltip rhetoric, I have a question.
Against nonplayers, only absorbs some harmful spells.
When I read that, I assume that means it will not copy the NPC's spell however it will absorb some of the damage. This is based on the first part of the sentence (against nonplayers, only absorbs) and not the sentence prior. Let's face it, some NPC mechanics should not be able to be copied, I just always assumed that those non replicable spells were not a Simulacrum situation.
If what everyone is saying is true (which seems to be from all these people saying "zomg eleventeen million crit fireballs"), why doesn't the tooltip read:
If a harmful nonplayer spell cannot be copied, it may be absorbed.
or
Against nonplayers, some harmful spells are absorbed.
or
Against nonplayers, some harmful spells may be copied or absorbed.
Can someone clarify?

The spell still goes through. That's why all our comments above are "it's better to interrupt it" and whatnot. If it stopped the cast, why would we recommend interrupting it first?
In fact, the word "absorb" is used because the rune that gets placed on the target (really, it's just a debuff) takes in the spell after the target successfully casts it and then grants a copy to you. The absorb is more of a mechanic of the definition of simulacrum (which is roughly akin to the word "image" or "semblance"). DSim lets the spell through but absorbs a copy of it to be used by the DK.
It's just that simple. DSim can copy the vast majority of player spells: Lightning Bolts, Invisibility, Brain Freeze, Paladin bubbles, etc.
However, it would be an incredibly overpowered ability were we able to copy every single (or even most) NPC abilities. Imagine DSim-ing Magmaw's Lava Spew to deal 60k fire damage to all the mobs in the room or Beauty's AoE Fear and lava spew thing that explodes in a square. How about Valiona's Devouring Flame in either H GB or BoT? Things like Shadowbolts and Fireballs and whatnot are fine to copy though.
This is not this complicated. The tooltip (and a dictionary if you did not know what "simulacrum" meant) explains all this.
Hell, even trying the ability out on your own
would explain all of this.

Looking for a list to be made of NPC spells that can be copied with this spell... I would imagine it could potential be used to copy mostly all the unshielded spells that other classes could counter.
So want to use this ability but kinda not sure as my experience playing a DK isn't as vast as the other classes a.k.a less than 1000 hours of play time.
Any helpful comments and that list would be rockin!
