I realized that i could heal very effeciently as prot since i was using judgement often and crusader striking for WoG
At first I was all like: o_0
Now keep in mind that i'm only level 25
And now I'm all like: :D
Do WHATEVER makes you happy. Anything works at those levels, especially a healing class that can do damage. If you want your healing to be worth a damn at level cap though, you have to go Holy. If you want to run and guard flags effectively, go Prot. Honestly though, for your case I would suggest Ret. With Ret you will kill mobs quickly, and killing mobs quickly means faster quests, and faster quests means faster levels.

Overhaul
yeah i know ret is quicker for leveling. i have an 82 retribution pally. I was wondering for leveling through BG's though. My main priority is keeping myself and my friends alive through waves of actual players
Holy will keep you and your teammates alive from low levels to high levels. Prot though brings with it survivability, stuns, and silences.
Both even out really,
prot allows you to take the enemy healer essentially out of the game if you sit on him; the silences and stuns make him unable to heal, and it will be difficult for the healer to get you peeled off (all that survivability also allows you to get behind the zergs and right on the healer).
Holy will allow you to keep your teammates up and throw out some minor dps if you go into shockadin style holy.
Both are good, pick the playstyle you like.
P.S. Just remember to use your hands - Hand of protection, hand of sacrifice, hand of freedom, and any of your major abilities (I don't see many paladins using divine protection in BGs, even though it is a great ability). These will provide your team with utility as well as whatever abilities the spec you choose has to offer.
