Now that I don't have exams to worry about, I think I might get back into RPing. Any chance someone could give me a brief recap, as brief as you like, of what has transpired thus far in 'Industrial Azeroth'?
Who the hell are you? :o
And time to get back into using good grammar/English - anyone who has talked me on Steam will know what I mean :P
Maybe just a bit >.>

Two questions, and one is really really dumb lol =P:
1. Who is the ruler of Gilneas, is it Glenn or is it his daughter? And if it's his daughter, is she worgenized or still human?
And 2(this is the dumb one lol) What race is Vrell normally? Missed that heh.

It's only two pages. A few new characters showed up, but no one's really done anything.
Oh god he's right. This

can anyone tell me the basics of RPing here? im prety new at this.

There we go - all typed up :)
Sorry about how long it is, I got really
really
carried away. Also my intro posts are usually long anyways :P, though I can safely say it's helped me ease back into my characters a little bit.
---
Also welcome morginar - I'd try to be a bit more helpful/clear if I wasn't heading out really soon, but here is some quick advice I can give from my limited roleplaying experience:
Utilize wowwiki for gaps in lore knowledge - that thing has a ton of information and it tends to make RP better, both for you and everyone else, than if you just wing it (believe me, I've tried)
Never be afraid to ask other members of the board - if you are unsure about something feel free to ask, I can safely say the people here will gladly help you to the best of their abilities
Make sure to read the introductory posts for each RP, they give you a good idea about what the RP revolves around and the setting etc.
When adding characters it is generally a good idea to start with races you are familiar with, then start to diversify. A good lore knowledge of the specific race helps make your characters' backstories more interesting. You do not need to have every single detail worked out about a character's history, but relevant details help to make RP interactions more interesting - whether your character was attacked by a grizzly as a child or was brought up by another race. Just try to keep in mind common racial traits and how the races view each other.
Avoid dealing too heavily with major lore characters - namely people like Garrosh Hellscream and Varian Wrynn. What I mean by this is do not make your character out to be their long-lost relative or best friend or adopted brother. If you can tie those characters in without making your own character overpowered though, then that can work nicely - particularly with specific events in WoW's history where it would make sense for your character to have interacted, even if only briefly, with one of the prominents. For the most part though people avoid it as that way it allows for more varied and less-overpowered characters.
Also, some useful threads are listed
here
This one
and
this one
are pretty good too - I know there's others that I'm forgetting, but you'll have to ask the other regulars for links to those.

And before I go, don't feel intimated by large RPs with experienced roleplayers or RPs that are well underway. I can safely say there will always be a chance for you to join, if you wish to take it - I joined my first RP about 1000 pages in and I can safely say it was worth it, even though it took quite some time for me to properly get into the swing of things around here.
Asking for a recap of recent events or reading through at least part of an RP is good for getting into one that is already underway or one where you have been away for a while.
Edit: I'm off for the night now, see you all tomorrow.

Another good point would be to let go of the game mechanics. In-game items, spells and whatnot are of less importance when roleplaying!

This x1000.
Also, I suggest Wowpedia more than Wowwiki.
And, lastly, communicate! Don't ever, ever, ever try to join a plotline with no idea of what's going on and try to railroad it. Similarly, don't hijack someone's related plotline or try to effect large events without coordinating first.
A good way to communicate would be through email (mine's in my profile, for example) or through steam (check out the L+RP steam group).

When you create a character do you write down background somewhere at some database etc?
Post by
oneforthemoney
Depends. If you want to you can either give just an initial physical description with your first post and keep the background to yourself, or put it in there as well. It's really a matter of personal preferance and there is no requirement that you do so.
However, you can create a wowpedia account and put that information there, as Morec has done.

I'd give a brief physical description at the beginning. Some of us don't give descriptions with our more popular characters (for example, if I introduce Khaz or Markoth, I usually won't put a description in since most of the other RP'ers know who they are).
