Seriously, why are you all still responding to him? He's a troll, and your just feeding his already over inflated ego and sense of self worth. Just ignore Aestu, your lives will be better for it.
Don't spoil the fun. I could've made a short and more clever response earlier... but nah, sometimes it's fun to overdo it completely. :<
... I'm beginning to feel like a certain other user when doing silly multi-quoted responses like this one. Scary.

Examples of PR? Actioning posters on their own forums who criticize company actions while tolerating out-and-out trolls who shill for them; using grey posters who are company employees to undermine critical discussions they don't like; threatening MMO Champion with an injunction so that the editor actioned forum posters that were critical of leaked and datamined beta information; and redoubling an advertising offensive while cutting back on game infrastructure spending.
How did somebody else put it?
You might want to adjust your tinfoil hat; it's slipping to the right.
As of this moment I am going to wait for the moment that you are going to say that Blizzard is monitoring your computer so that everything they do is to make sure you are leaving the game because they are intimidated by your superior skill and know-how.
Or that you are actually an ambassador of an alien race, send here to safe us from the armageddon that will take place as the mayan calender runs out in 2012, by trying to get us to another plane of existance, and only the worthy, who are with you will survive.

Complaining Aestu
What a @#$%ing surprise hey
When will he quit WoW?

Aestu won't accept defeat guys. She'll make stupid arguments and base her statements on false facts.
A failure to accept something as true doesn't alter the veracity of the statement.
So far, all I've seen are gross generalizations and conspiracy mongering. I'm more than willing to reverse my statements - as long as I'm provided some sort of data to support the alternate view. That's yet to be provided. All I've seen is an interpretation of events that differs from my own, and that fail the 'Occam's razor' test.
I regularly post on the Religion and Spirituality forums of Yahoo Answers, and this is the same sort of behavior I see when someone asks a person to back up their claims with credible evidence.
Seriously, why are you all still responding to him? He's a troll, and your just feeding his already over inflated ego and sense of self worth. Just ignore Aestu, your lives will be better for it.
It's an experiment: I'm trying to find out what the maximum PSI rating is for a human ego.

The fact that I'm agreeing with it is most likely a conspiracy as well. Arguments are only really entertaining when they're backed up with good claims - not who can toss the biggest rocks at the other side of the river.

I lol'ed. <3
Now, uh, back on topic: We're actually a nice bunch here on the Wowhead Forums *nods*

You said, "I'm just a Moderator, that keeps the forums in order." If you're posting as an individual user how is this relevant?
Gnub was making the distinction that he is, in fact, a moderator of the Wowhead forums, a website not directly linked to Blizzard, and not a Blizzard employee or PR rep. He made no connection between that fact and his point -- that was your doing.
What you said was clearly hyperbole - your exaggeration/distortion, and not a misinterpretation of what I wrote.
The fact that you brought up Blizzard PR in a thread about Wowhead's haiku contest implies you consider the haiku contest to be a product of Blizzard PR, and thus, the reason and basis for this argument. It's not hyperbole in the least -- if Gnub misinterpreted your point, so did the rest of the people in the thread, because all that is being gathered from this is that you somehow thought the Haiku contest was Blizzard's idea.
What are these examples of their PR, that I have yet to see in your posts (I might be blind, but if so, please point it out)?
Examples of PR? Actioning posters on their own forums who criticize company actions while tolerating out-and-out trolls who shill for them; using grey posters who are company employees to undermine critical discussions they don't like; threatening MMO Champion with an injunction so that the editor actioned forum posters that were critical of leaked and datamined beta information; and redoubling an advertising offensive while cutting back on game infrastructure spending.
Alright. Cheers for the elaboration. Not really relevant to what we're discussing, so I'll just let that go.
If it's not relevant to the discussion why did you ask?Your elaborative example is the irrelevant part, not the question or the implication of PR's role in this.
Wowhead was given Beta keys to give to players as they saw fit. They chose to make a haiku contest. Period. Blizzard's PR has nothing to do with this.

It's safe to assume he meant examples of PR relevant to the issue at hand. I could cite random examples for whatever I wanted, it doesn't make them supportive of my argument. Bringing up Blizzard's enforcement of their NDA isn't exactly related to the assertion that their PR Machine was the driving force behind the Haiku contest.

Thank you for taking my words Varaconn - that's exactly what I was doing - and it saved me the trouble of spending the next 3 hours writing a response :P
Summing up the thread:
The OP expressed pleasure the haiku contest was over. "Frames" inquired why he felt that way. In response, I expressed agreement with the OP, and elaborated. Gnub replied to me to the effect that the haiku contest was preferable to giving out the tickets at random, to which I responded that was a false dichotomy and I felt Blizzard's aggressive pursuit of PR was part of a negative trend in the game community.
I replied saying that in my personal opinion, it was better - not that it in fact may or may not be.
Gnub then mis-stated my argument, which led to a digression into the finer points of rhetoric.
If anything, I think that goes at the very least two ways. The only real fact there is that it's hardly only me who might have misunderstood a point here and there in this thread. ;)

Wow, write one simple post while under the affects of painkillers and look what happens. Remind me to stay far, far away from the keyboard next time, or choose something less controversial to write about, like kitten-killing or something.
Take a look at Aestu's post history, then you'll understand.

Aestu, do you get paid to write rebuttals on internet message boards all day? Because I would like to know where I can get a Degree in E-Debating and Asshatery
