I agree Wowhead staff, pick more serious haiku. I really sound like a jerk, but the funny ones suck. But I understand, hey, they need a chance too. But don't fill up 9/10 slots a day with bad "funny" haiku.

Are you joking me? Definitely something smells in the contest!
Wowhead ppl have to separately set score to every single haiku, and the ones with most points goes for voting.
Whats this nonsense today?

I'm actually pretty surprised that it was chosen. I had maybe 12 entries and that was the one I fully expected to be trashed.

Yeah, same here pretty much. I'm happy I got into the vote, but that wasn't the best one I wrote by far :)
I must admit I'm impressed though that so many are voting for the "real" haiku. Wasn't expecting that!

"Dalaran floating / Piercing the clear canopy / Jewel in the skies (Anubee)"
Yes I think it is the most beautiful and haiku like, so i'm voting for it. If you all agree then vote vote vote, and ask friends to vote so it will win! :)

When it comes to art everything is allowed, when it comes to poetry there is some currents to follow.
One that gets my eye is examples like "OMG" Oh Em Gee has same amount of syllables than Oh My God! which is the proper way to say that. Why can't you PPL (read:people) use right definitions and just think about it couple of minutes longer and find a solution to make it real poetry. Even if it's always funny at least it would be decent.
Thank you, I have still enjoyed this cause it's still better way than just giving keys away. All of us have been really creative here and those who win, will feel they made the effort.

I'm not sure if clashed is counted as 1.. -.- if it's 1 then "and" is nescessary, if not then could "and" be deleted, if it goes up?

I voted for the Dalaran one. The "funny" or ironic ones got old after the first couple of days. They don't seem to have much thought put into them.

Some really good ones today! I had to vote the Worgen one tho, hilarious! If I had more votes I would've voted the rez tuesday one second and the core hound one third! I also liked the Dalaran one, more like a normal haiku but it seemed to be doing pretty well already.

Yeah, I've been tending to use my vote to boost up the ones I liked but were sitting in 3rd/4th/5th place myself..
In this case the Dalaran one was a clear win in my book tho & I'd have voted for it regardless of where it was positioned. Similarly I didn't vote for anything from the 5th day's selections cos, no offense to creators, nothing there appealed even vaguely.

Addictdeath's not capitalizing "Tuesday" was a a stroke of genius (or serendipity) -- putting casual disregard for capitalization in the last line makes the break from the seriousness of the first two lines that much sharper; the contrast gives the punch line more punch.
Isilldur's is still my favorite, though.

a good portion of the internet community either a) doesnt know what a Haiku is. or B) wants a good laugh (just like Trade chat!), so thus the crappy responses. Thats why I made sure my haiku is laughable... heck knows some of the good ones would never be picked.

This a
&*^$%
lottery, I put some real effort into making three haiku's. The ones that wind up to be voted for do not even come close to poetry imo, except for the Dalaran one.
So what happens to the ones that do not make it...they are deleted but cannot be entered again? What a waste of talent then. Serious contestants might as well try and raid the blizzard compound for a beta key.
I agree completely, I much prefer my latest entry to the one that's up there;
A Cataclysm,
Ancients rise and Old Gods stir,
Deathwing awaits us.
But hey, you gotta be realistic too. With 20k+ submissions, you're gonna have to accept that some fall through the cracks and that most are picked, if not completely randomly, then at least pseudorandomly (fetch a random haiku from a non-winning applicant, manually read it, and then approve it onwards to the voting stage). This means a bunch of haiku's might fall through the cracks. It's still a lot better than just randomly awarding keys though.
