STOP! Can't Touch This.
I'm not sure what the markup help document will end up being but it may well make this thread obsolete ^_^
I'll keep updating it until then though.
Do keep updating it. If anything your post shows better ways of using tables, and other BBcodes. You keep updating it, and I will keep referencing it in my guides!
Cheers,
Hat

Awesome toggle area for formatting help below the post boxes. Thanks for that! I can't wait to see what the help page will look like.

Do I get a prize for finding a
legitimate use
for the new ins/del tags?
Sad thing is that, using them in a pair like that, I still felt that the deleted part needed a strikethrough to show that that figure was gone.
Also, I agree pelf, the formatting help section is a great idea. That markup link needs to point to a real page though, even if that page just says 'under construction' (or something less cliché).

Gratz on the upgrade asakawa.(##RESPBREAK##)140##DELIM##ArgentSun##DELIM##While I am certain many people will notice this promotion, let's keep the congratulating off this thread.

I think the only things missing were \icon=false] (eg.
Rough Vulture Feathers
instead of
Rough Vulture Feathers
) and "em" as a unit of measurement for table widths (along with px and %)

I'm going to start adding some of the more notable layout tags for guide writers to the end of the guide. I'll be adding to this section a little at a time when I have a moment.

Just to add: I had some trouble finding and for titles.
Also the fact that you can provide URL links on picutres with:
<insert image>
By the way, what an awesome thread. Very helpful.

I've added \, \ and \ to the Guide Writers' section.
(\ was actually something that I hadn't got around to looking at myself and I now find out it's an incredibly useful tag!)

Well \s and \s are in the buttons above the edit box and this guide has always been about explaining the things that are missing from that list of buttons.
\ is covered in the \ section (sort of) but might benefit from a better explanation.

that's interesting because another user mentioned the same issue. I'll mention it to someone that might be able to fix it (or if you want to make a thread in feedback about it giving as many details as you can about your setup (IE version etc.) then that would work too).
I'll definitely get around to money and some of the other 'smaller but still useful' tags in the coming days/weeks. I'm fitting in a tag or two whenever I get a moment.
update: I've added a messy list of some more tags in one big lump at the end of the guide. This will get tidied up but I thought people might appreciate them in a bare-bones form as soon as possible.(##RESPBREAK##)8##DELIM##asakawa##DELIM##

The two IDs need to match and using "hidden" makes the toggled section start closed.
How to make it open at start? (replacing "hidden")
Tried different words, but can't figure it out on my own.
Edit:
text
Noticed that "" is not necessary.
Post by
asakawa
Hidden is optional, you just leave it out if you want your toggler open as default.
\ doesn't make any obvious differences to the text within the tags but closing the tag is still important.
As you can see if you do something like:
text
open \
> open >and then > close \ instead of \ =
text
Tags are nested and need to be closed in the opposite order to which they were made or you'll get into trouble.
As for icon specifically, while it doesn't have a massively obvious effect on the text inside, if you use
align
in the tag then it's important how much text you're aligning the icon to.

I have a question about spanning images.
My guide
's header image, the painted picture of Shannox, displays great on my maximized resolution, but shrinking the window or using a lower rez narrows the available space and makes the image go off the edge.
Is there a way to scale an image to fit a changing space, or even to cut off the edge? Sort of like using an asterisk in HTML to mean "whatever space is available."
Post by
asakawa
I don't think that's possible. Bear in mind that lots of different resolutions will be viewing your guide so there's bound to be someone on an old 4:3 CRT with a 1024px width resolution. Even on my widescreen 1920px width screen that header image is forced to go under the 'quick facts' box.
edit: added tooltips(##RESPBREAK##)8##DELIM##asakawa##DELIM##
