Nothing wrong with running dungeons with heirlooms. Nothing wrong with running them without heirlooms, either.
Some people like leveling characters more than they like playing maximum-level characters in end-game content. Nothing wrong with that.
In this case, you happened to run into a couple of folks who were more vocal and tactless about their lack of altruism* than others. Just forget it and move on.
*On a side night, altruism is a false concept that humans thought up to make themselves sleep better at night. Overcoming our most basic, self-serving nature is probably the hardest challenge our species faces. Nine times out of ten, a person's 'altruistic' actions only occurred because of the benefit to himself - or because the penalty of accepting the situation was less than the penalty for shrugging it.

You didnt really have a choice of using them considering there were none in BC...Yes, well done, that was the point of his post.

My response was my usual to people like this; "Heirlooms are for pansies."
...
Heirlooms are for people who want the leveling process to be finished quicker so they can get into the real meat of the game. Nothing more, nothing less.

It's not the gear, its not the fact you are on your first toon, or they are on their 10th.
Its plain and simple bad and ridiculous fricken attitudes. It's everywhere in the game, e-peen stroking, "I am better than you" inflated ego garbage.
And the ones who call it QQ'ing when you complain about it are simply trying to justify themselves for being total jerks to people. Sexually frustrated and immature teenagers who get their only kicks from insulting people in a game and trying to assert their perceived dominance over others. Why? Simply because they can't excel anywhere else or do anything else. And if they aren't teenagers, they are the same, just as pitiful as adults as they were as teenagers, so their intent is even more belligerent and intense because they have that many more years of getting frustrated over beating it to their images Molly Ringwald they have had since their parents allowed them to move into basement.
So ignore them, let them try their best to insult you and bring you down to their level, they will drop others will queue and you will eventually find some cool people, roll with it and ignore the the jackasses who revel in their own pitiful unsuccessful lives until they can find someone to prey upon to stroke their own peen, especially since no one will stroke it for them, real or otherwise.

Who knows, I enjoy leveling to, Warcraft is just my kind of game. But I've have been guilty of being a dps in a LFD instance while leveling and I see the tank has BoAs or the Healer as well and give a smile cause they could know what their doing atleast and it will go well.
Players who just want to yell at others cause they don't have a 80 or something is stupid. When I see a player having a hard time or it's their first toon so theyve never been in this instance or so i'll stop careing about xp and help this person learn insted of the L2P /ragequit treatment... Used to be nice before LFD cause by 60/70 id always have a nice large list of new friends every toon I made.
People are to worried about leveling their FotM toon other then enjoying the game. So just gotta grin and bare it. When you find nice players that are confused, help them out. and the A- holes... Well forget them, times I sigh at the way people act on the game.

I enjoyed levelling a great deal, but I tended to enjoy it more with heirlooms. It's funnish, but I like it to be a bit faster.

Yes, because the first thing you do while running an instance is to insult someone... if someone did that with me, I would also drop group; don't need anyone bashing my play style. You don't like heirlooms, that's fine, but don't bad mouth someone else because they like playing with them(note, my alliance toons have pretty much a full set of all the gear).

I'm pretty sure everyone here breaths a sigh of relief when the tank/healer has heirlooms. If one or more dps do as well? Incoming easy dungeon.
It's not even like heirloom items are hard to get these days. Just doing a daily H every day along with the weekly and the occasional ToC(TogC as well) will net you more then enough.

Actually, heirloom gear hasn't been strongly associated with good players in my experience, and often it ends up warning me that someone's going to try to faceroll content they don't outlevel, which will be painful.

While that is an acceptable generalization (since I've seen plenty of them myself), I try to avoid putting people under that label until they prove it. I say that because I'm one of those fully 'loomed players, I like to think I don't need to prove my competency, because I know I have it.
:P
When I was on my Heirloom'd tank, I would pull as fast as my healer could take, usually starting with one pull at a time until I got a feel for his limit.
When I was on my Heirloom'd healer, I would ask the tank to slow down if it was too much for me and to speed up if I was bored, which usually means he can handle more mobs too. If the tank didn't feel comfortable holding large numbers of mobs, I didn't press it.
When I was on my Heirloom'd DPS, I would go at whatever pace the tank went at. I would also go above and beyond by using CC as I felt prudent. I still love the tanks when I was running HoR on my DK who yelled at me for not being on skull, then yelled at the increased damage when I wasn't playing with the Mages. Or the healers who didn't realize that the mobs hitting me are the ones that would have been hitting them if I let them...

Oh, yeah, many players with heirlooms are great, but I definitely don't breathe a sigh of relief when I see them. I wait until I have data.

I think you have bad luck then, because I very rarely find someone in full heirlooms + enchants to be incompetent.
