Doesn't matter that Metzan said that, Tauren will still complain about Garrosh, and how evil violent stupid and moronic he is, how he will lead the Horde to evil, and all the rest of the same thing's he posted for the last 10 pages.

Because leaders still need commanders and advisers; Drek'thar is fading fast, Saurfang is off in the North, and the other important orcs are well....not really sure where they are. Blizzard does what it does, no matter how mad it seems to us.

If they just have him chill around Thrall, that's a waste of a character.Agreed, which is why, we'll have to wait till the end of the expansion to finally see where Blizzard is going with this(again, I'm tired of half-assed death redemptions; I actually want Garrosh to survive and see a real turn around to him).

So, Garrosh is just a part of Thrall's story, instead of having an story about himself? And that bit about fighting for the Horde makes me think Blizzard will make Thrall kill Garrosh.I don't think so. Garrosh has a very different mindset and way of doing things than Thrall, but he's past his phase as a mad brute.
It saying basicly that Garrosh is the counter of Thrall in everything he did, and that, thank god, Thralls importance to the warcraft lore is more set then anyones.

Actully, seeing Metzen say that and giving me a moment to think on it, it is right. Because I base so much of what I love about the horde on the back of how Thrall lead it, just thinking, I can actully put that aside and think less about the idiotic mindset the horde has taken recently in cata, and think more on 'whats Thralls plan next, and will this lead to something greater instead of complete disaster?'
Until theres something like this though, I don't think much to the horde's belief in Garrosh's way of doing things, I'll just have to follow it along...
Just hope it doesn't lead to this retarded idea mmo champ posters are saying about Thrall becoming the aspect of earth or the warden of it and doing a 'bolvar' style ending of never coming back to his people ¬.¬

you DO know that the chances of that happening are pretty much equal to the chances of Stephenie Meyer having Bella raped+killed+burned+and someone defecating on her ashes in a new twilight book rite?
dude, Thrall is metzen's creation, there is no way in hell he's gonna discard him in any way at all, much the same way as Stephenie would never soil her sueish little author-avatar.
he already said so straight out "he's THE most important person in azeroth", and the earthwarden thing was mostly a joke, he did a lot of those in the exposition, I mean I'm still trying to figure out what he meant by this line:
Can you give any spoilers of a location of an Old God in this expansion. and elaborate on the theory that if all old gods are gone the world would explode?
OR IS IT? You haven't seen who pays Deathwing's bills. Have you played any Cataclysm? ... like where the world blows up? Have we publically announced the...? You might see it's name uttered in a few places in Cataclysm... Nezoth/Ni'zoth?
if anyone can figure out what the hell he said there, pls enlighten me.

Still bashing garrosh? 48 sides of how much better Thrall is says a lot. I wouldnt vote for garrosh irl, but in a a video game he is a much cooler and interesting leader than Thrall.
racist attitude, beating thralls behind (sadly interrupted by scourge invasion), picking fights everywhere and showing no respect for anyone. He is just awesome and opens so many doors for evolving the plotline in cataclysm.
I am hoping for a story about him gradually becoming more and more agressive over the course of the expansion, til the point that he alienates almost everyone..
Every player kicked out of Orgrimmar, fel orcs, horde loyal to garrosh, demons all over Orgrimmar turning the entire capital into a raidzone with garrosh as the final boss.

"Thrall is the most important person on Azeroth. (joking) Because he's green and he's sexy. For no other reason."
You know I got to say, for the first time, I actully have some faith in what they intend to do.
For one thing, Metzens making it clear, they are going to develop Thrall's character in cataclysm, there going to do what they haven't had a chance to do and develop him, which when you realise what he's saying, there is no chance in hell they would develop him and then kill him if they did that.
Second, calling him the most important figure in wow, that was something needed to be said. All a sudden, theres nothing Garrosh could do that would effect whatever Thrall is going to do. He made it clear, Garrosh is his foil, Garrosh only bares any relavence to the story because he is a counter of everything Thrall represents, and so, he is only in the story in the sake of developing Thralls to a great level.
And third, he said don't get fixated on Garrosh. He wants to make a point, Thrall is the hero here, he isn't just holding up the maelstrom well Garrosh screws around with the horde. It actully puts it in such perspective that... the warchief figure is just so small now under Garrosh I could be ignored in comparison to Thrall.
And that last thing he said, that if you love the horde now, what will it feel like when you have to fight for it. whatever that means, it sounded exciting, I'm hoping its going to lead to something huge in fighting for the hordes honor.

"Thrall is the most important person on Azeroth. (joking) Because he's green and he's sexy. For no other reason."Except for everyone else who is also fighting against the corruption of the Old Gods, the Destroyer, the Elemental Lords and all the rest. Thrall is awesome, but please don't make him the big hero of the expansion, stretch it out, give the chance to others as well.

Who are you asking there Adams? Think Metzens gonna note that?
You remember how Tirion was the real hero of wotlk, how he stood against the lich king? And did that make him a mary sue in the end?
Point proven.

Eh... Bad example. I didn't really like Tirion by the end of WotLK. DK starter zone was cool, and rather liked the Icecrown quests, but the Tournament and his total stealing of the ICC credit were totally stupid.

I'd rather not have a Messiah in Warcraft; I don't play for one lore figure, I like a wide variety of them: Varian as the ruler of the humans, The Bronzebeards for the Ironforge Dwarves, the Wildhammers, Tyrande and Malfurion, Vol'jin, and others.

What point? That Tirion survived the final fight with the Lich King, after mass rezzing the heroes, shattering Frostmourne, and promising Bolvar not to spill the beans....after making a massive statue in the center of Dalaran? I'm sorry, but just as other people do, I get antsy when I hear the terms: Most important, most powerful, most awesome super amazing incredible...alright maybe not the last one too much, but still, throws up warning signals for me.
I'd rather have character development for all, instead of focus one; I mean, we see it for Baine Bloodhoof in the aftermath of his father's death. We're seeing it for Moira Bronzebeard finally, after sitting in BRD for years(oh, and she had the kid, a little boy). We're seeing it in spades for Anduin; between the weapon given to him by Magni, his own desire to step out from under his father's shadow, and his desire to learn the Light, I'm looking forward to the future.
After all, it's World of Warcraft, not World of Thrall.
