The only thing I did not like at all was the loss of Survival Of the Fittest
in my cat spec
, because being crit immune while DPSing was a lot of fun. That paired SI and Barkskin (maybe NI too) made me capable of going all out without having to worry about much.
you lost me right there.
going all out w/o having to worry about much? like what....actually moving from bone storm? not standing in slime spray? insert other stupid high damage things you can easily avoid here? im sure it wasnt from pulling threat with that suboptimal spec.
honestly.....blizzard is doing this for people like you. dumbing down the tree so its clear cut what is bear and what is cat. i dont like. give people the freedom to do what you did (even if its not optimal) or do something completely different! now they're making us all use 'the best spec' even if we didnt want to, way to force us into cookie cutter instead of at least discovering it blizz.
So again, if this is what they're wanting to do, then just get rid of the tree and give everyone only 1 talant point at level 10 with four options: 1) Cat, 2) Bear, 3) Moonkin, 4) Resto, so everyone wont have to waste 30 seconds every 2 levels opening the talant tree window and clicking on a talant they have no other option but to take.
sounds like a plan to me

They may have 'betrayed' their concept of letting us have room for more choices...
Ummm... Less options does not mean we lose choice...
The Idea of reducing the "fluff" is to remove the talents that you had no choice over taking to get to the later more interesting talents.
The idea of adding choice by removing "fluff" means the the talents that remain are much more
meaningful
of a choice.
And I'm going to say it once, right now. Do
NOT
think this is weakening the talents tree in the slightest. If you have half a brain you will realize that balancing is nowhere
NEAR
complete and classes will be buffed or nerf'd appropriately to make it even. If we lose something from a talent more often then not it will be rolled into another talent. THIS IS BETA NOTHING IS GUARANTEED TO STAY THIS WAY.

The Balance one must still be being modified, too.
Starsurge is still a talent, when it's part of the "Path" you choose at the start (When you go Balance at 10, you get Starsurge.)
Here's hoping it becomes the Moonkin Form Talent, since I'll be upset if all druids get Moonkin.

if moonkin is no longer a talent then could we be getting that at lvl 10 or is that starsurge...if so, why not both? idk why they would feel the need to make moonkin a baseline form for all specs, just doesnt make sense to me

Moonkin is purchasable at lvl 40 now.
Starsurge is the signature ability.
The talent trees are almost pre-alpha at the moment.

Can anyone explain me what are Solar energy and Lunar energy ?
You should really read up on the
Class changes
. Read the mastery bonuses for balance, it's explained there.

I actually agree with you. Sorry if the way I worded it made it seem otherwise. I honestly think we do not have more choices now than we did before, it is about the same. The difference to me is that they kept the choices that matter. I quite like where they are going.
Good deal.
Just one small question :
Can anyone explain me what are Solar energy and Lunar energy ?
Also i like balance tree now,it got nice utility talents ! hope they will make new moonkin forms in some part of cataclysm ! :)
Solar Energy is gained via Starfire dmg.
Lunar Energy is gained via Wrath dmg.
New moonkin forms are
Soon

I know the talentrees are very early, just wanted to add a couple of things.
Improved Leader of the pack removed?
Only 60% chanse to get rage on shapeshifting with furor?
I would probably sacrifice the 6% reduced damge from Perservence (restotree) and also Improved feral charge, and use the 5 points to pick up cat-talents. You could get a full catspecc and a 95% tankspecc this way.
Question:
I read somewere that bears would get AP from agility in cata, is this true? If so, dont you think AGI will become a highly favoured stats even for bears? Armor, dodge, crit, AP = avoidance + threat + higher shields with savage defence, vs pure HP from stamina?

Was it not said that they wanted to give us more 'fun' talents that werent mandatory?
Seems to me that with such a small talent tree all the specs are going to be virtually identical.
Is it that Blizzards vision of giving choices in your spec has vanished?
I couldn't agree more with this. I sincerely hope that Blizzard gives more options, or I won't be buying Cataclysm.

As a follow-up to my post earlier about Starsurge being a talent and a "received at Level 10" thing. GC posted something about it on the Official Forums.
http://blue.mmo-champion.com/t/25968840029/balance-druid-talents-where-s-moonkin-form/
(My apologies for not being able to locate it on the Cata forums)
Either Starsurge or Moonkin Form will be included at Level 10; The other will be where Starsurge is on the current Talent Calc.
