Alrighty, so I've been playing a Ret paladin for about two years now... and I'm starting to think I've done something wrong with it.
Me.
So I'm only able to put out 5k maximum in raids (haven't been to ICC yet). So I was wondering if there is anything wrong I'm doing? Ignore the PvP boots, previously I was using
these
.
It probably has something to do with spec I'm assuming, although it might be gear too. Looking at my stats, it looks like I'm below hit, so that's probably something I need to get fixed ASAP I'm assuming, along with my lack of Expertise (however I don't know of any upgrades that I can easily obtain that give expertise so... And I've been through the filter, it doesn't have a setting for expertise.)

I think your damage is right where it should be given your gear. Question though, why 1/5 Toughness instead of 1/1 Divine Sacrifice?

T10 Shoulders = 60 Frost emblems
T10 Gloves = free in VoA, run weekly (quick, 10 hours to run it this week!)
And I do have to agree - 5k is pretty good for that gear. You're missing a number of enchants too.
(Btw - if you want the Epic achievement, swap your trinkets around xD)

Didn't realize I could do that >.>
Yeah I just replaced some gear, which is why I have enchants missing. And I'm not even friendly with Hodir >.>

You can get the Wintergrasp shoulder enchants to tide you over, or just do the opening 3-4 quests to introduce you to the Sons of Hodir to get the first-stage enchants. No need to grind - the opening quests now bring you to Revered already anyway.

Really? Guess I better get started then.
Now that I think about it I'm only two quests or so off from finishing the questline.

Yep. But then again, you're a dwarf - my mage (which did it recently) is a human, so it might be a bit longer for you :P
Definitely though, the opening quests should be enough to give you your first shoulder enchants.

Another suggestion would be to remove the points you put into unyielding faith and instead put them into pursuit of justice.
Possibly. I'm not disarmed as much as I am stunned/disoriented, which is why I put points into that. I'm not quite sure why I have toughness in there >.>
I wouldnt suggest spending so many frost emblems on gear with agility such as your cape, and triumph on the ring, you should have gone with the str ring.
Main reason was for the crit, but if the Strength is really better I can spring for those (although probably not for the cape though >.> The Recovered is good enough for now.)

There should be a filter for expertise rating. If there isn't... Well, most of the tier pants have expertise on them, and I know that the other frost emblem cloak has a good chunk. You probably should go ahead and swap out the Needle-Encrusted Scorpion for the Mark of Supremacy triumph emblem trink to get your hit rating taken care of, and definitely replace the Glyph of Seal of Command for the Glyph of Seal of Vengeance for the free expertise. That should make a big difference. For frost emblems though, 2 piece T10 should be a priority.
Just follow this, you should see a quick boost.
5k is doing very well in your gear set.
Ya really. With 0 Expertise, 5K is not to shabby. Sounds like you have your rotation down. Just make those quick changes, and you will be at 6K in no time!
Cheers,
Hat

Honestly, I'd save up my emblems for the shoulders first, and only use emblems to buy the legs and hands last (since they have a chance to drop from both VoA 10 and 25) to shoot to get the 4 piece Tier 10 set asap. You can enchant for a bit of expertise also, the gloves come to mind.
Good luck with your ICC!
I didn't know the pants dropped, just thought the hands did =P I might get the helmet first then (just looking purely at iLevels).
And thanks.

If you're curious about your DPS, you can check out
SimulationCraft
. You can load your armory, wowhead profile, or even edit the coding (to change food buff, flask, potions, or anything else) and it will predict your DPS given the fight duration, latency, player skill, fight type, and smooth/rough RNG. Information on the program is also on the page I linked, although it's fairly self-explanatory.
EDIT: SimulationCraft gauges your DPS at 5074 with full raid buffs (300 second fight, Elite player skill, low latency, Patchwerk-style fight, and smooth RNG). Keep in mind that SimulationCraft is a measure of
average DPS
and not a measure of
maximum DPS
. If you're interested in maximum DPS, you'll want to use a spreadsheet.

Pursuit of Justice is not taken for the Disarm reduction (that part is PvP only). It's taken for that movement speed boost - 15% faster run speed means you can get out of the fire 15% faster, and then back to the boss 15% faster. It's an important talent both for DPS and for general survival.
Ah, I thought it was mounted only.
I'd also suggest moving the two points from Unyielding Faith or Toughness or something (a filler talent), and put them in Vindication. Vindication is the equivalent of a fully buffed Demo Shout, and has a damn near 100% uptime on any boss or mob you're attacking - this will reduce a lot of the damage your tank takes, especially if they're one of those lazy bears and warriors who never use their Demo Shout (or a nub Prot Pally who doesn't spec into it).
Sounds good, respeccing tomorrow.
And for those of you wondering, ICC was amazing, and I got Rotface's ring (strength) and the Ashen Strength Ring (to replace the triumph agility).

I'm assuming that Toughness was supposed to go into DiSac.
Vindication OR Pursuit of Justice. Don't drop points anywhere else. PoJ is a 'damage done' increase, Vindication is a tank protection device.
On a random side note, with points in Unyielding Faith, it strikes me that the Human racial (i.e. Every Man For Himself) is a 'damage done' increase as well, because you can go back to DPS'ing a few seconds earlier if you trinket out of fears (eg, dinosaur boss in DTK).
Edit: And my oh my... what on earth did you do to your Prot talent spec? oO;;

Don't remind me. There's a reason I haven't tanked in 4 months >.>
