Dps Meter AddOns

So like a year ago I started using AddOns because I started tanking raids in my Guild. I got all the basics DMB X-perl (for looks of course) and I needed a Dps Meter. Well for some reason I tried to download off of curse and fail to get it to show up in my AddOns page in WoW. So I download WoWMatrix. It does all the installation for you.
I found out it doesn't have Recount but instead Skada. So over the months its handy to track dps but I alway felt it was wrong. Everytime I post my meters to someone who has Recount, Skada is always slightly higher.
Like yesterday I was working my my 80 druid and testing my dps. My Skada told me 4.1K My friends in my party with Recount showed 3.4-3.5K. So I was thinking was I wrong all this time with my Dps?
So finally my question: Is Skada as accurate at Recount?

As far as I know, the major difference is that Skada factors in downtime while Recount doesn't. This means that Skada favors classes with constant DoTs, while Recount favors everyone else.

So I guess I gotta download Recount now...

I actually just loaded up both to see how big of a difference there is, on a regular lvl80 mob in icecrown on my 79 frost dps DK I recorded a 1.8k with skada, recount shows it only being 1.1k but which one is more accurate? I find this to be a pretty big difference imo.
After doing a few more fights it went like this, all on Converted Hero.
Skada - 1052 Recount - 1014
Skada - 1467 Recount - 1190
Skada - 1774 Recount - 1056
Skada - 2103 Recount - 1367
I dunno what to believe, if I feel like logging onto one of my 80s sometime today ill see how it matches up.

So how do we know Recounts really correct?

They count diffrently; Skada counts the overall dps - Recount counts whenever you dps.
off-t, are you using X-Perl for the looks? o.o

pretty much everything, aesthetic. it's functionality might be questioned, but then again people only use it because it looks good "out-of-the-box". otherwise i dont hate people for using it, just accuse them of being lazy.
and the whole question is ridicolous so I dont even see why I answered it.
edit.
WAIT WHAT? I just read the "only whisper" window and how the &*!@ can he say that X-Perl looks better than Pitbull?11

I use x-perl for the same reason I use Windows.
Anyhow, no damage meter is
accurate
. They're all wrong. The idea is to pick one and stick with it. You're using it to gauge your performance, so even if it reports you at half of what you're really doing, as long as it always does it the same way, you can use it as a viable metric.
What they said about the difference in activity accounting is true. Recount will modify your DPS by your activity. Honestly, though, the meter you should always look at is Damage Done. It doesn't matter if someone does 20k dps for 10 seconds and dies. Over a 5 minute fight, if you stay alive and do 9k dps, you'll contribute more than they did.
