30 ft, at normal gravity, you'd only have about a second and a half to think about anything. Maybe a bit less.
I don't know that you'd have enough time to process anything other than a 'whoops' reaction from slipping, certainly not enough to process the fact that you're about to die.

It'd actually be a little less than a second, seeing as you fall at a rate of approx. 32' per second.
You forget about acceleration time.
And 32' per second is actually the rate of increase in speed (per second), not the actual falling speed.
