I've never been scared of WoW before, but my sister once had an incident:
First of all, my sister is incredibly frightened of spiders. Big, small, hairy, poisonous, whatever. I tell her to come check out the Undead starter zone with me. She says fine. I parked my toon outside the spider cave and proceeded to zoom into first-person mode, turn up the sound, and turn off my monitor. So she comes in and I am deep inside the cave while I am fighting 2-3 spiders (One of them being the large, rare one found at the end). I turn on my monitor and...
She screams. Like blood-curdling-ly loud.
It was great.
But I still don't get why she makes fun of me when I get scared when
Rika kills herself in Higurashi
* yet she is afraid of cartoon spiders...

Scary momant.
Getting Hacked. While your playing.
Simply hearing over vent that you've logged back on, dropped group and activated your hearthstone while your trying to get to the account management screen. Seriously not fun and is also one of those things that has your heart pounding.
And all because some chinese guy proberbly wants to earn enough feed his kids.
WoW hasn't scared me so much as Morrowind and Oblivion. Weird AI mechanics + Weather Mods = Creepy Moments.
I remember running away from a wraith a couldn't kill. THIRTY MINUTES LATER a fog rolled over the path and that same wraith appeared behind me. Ran again, but every ten minutes or so I could hear its breathing... Started raining and I logged of in the IC market district. /shudder
As for WoW I think my heart stopped the first time I saw the Fel Reaver. "What's that noise, why's the ground- OMFG!"
I've played Oblivion a lot. I never had that trouble, because I always keep a silver weapon on hand!
That or a magic imbueded weapon works as well.

I've had a few sharp-intake-of- breath-moments. Mostly when I've unintentionally fallen from somewhere high.
I don't like heights IRL. When my toon has to walk on a ledge with sharp drop or something like that, I actually get the same reaction as I get IRL (less intense though). It's quite fascinating that while I know I'm not walking along the ledge, the fact that I'm guiding a toon on a screen is enough tot trigger the part of my brain that reacts to heights.
That &^&$*& dragon on the loading screen has caused nightmares. Sometimes I fall asleep on the couch when I've forgotten to log out. After a while the game logs you out and later disconnects. Then that &*&*^* dargon starts roaring and that becomes part of my dream. Annoying sound.
Wow has never really scared me. The first Doom has. Playing later at night in the winter with those monster noises all around. *shudder*. Tapping me on the shoulder would have caused brown-trouser time.

Huh. When that scene happens, I laugh like a maniac.
Im another victim of the Fel Reaver. As well as the usual attempts to scare the crap out of me, it just a couple of days ago did its best.
Playing my new DK, I am doing the "kill 20 bonechewer orcs" and "pick up wood/metal" quests right outside Honor Hold while talking on the phone with a friend. When suddenly I notice the Fel Reaver closing in. And I know he hates me. So I move around him. And it seems like his movement path is actually bending in my direction! Finally, I give up and run headlong at the path for the "clense Draenei skels" quest. Its quite out of the way to where I was before. So I start doing this quest casually...
... and after the second one I look up to find the damn Fel Reaver ALMOST RIGHT ON TOP OF ME! I swear out loud, and ran like hell up the path, just hoping it didnt notice me, and that my Ghoul didnt notice it. After running a good 50 ft from that location, I get behind a piece of debris and take a moment to catch my breath. The whole time my friend was asking on the phone what was happening...
hoyeah Fel Reaver ,sometimes you just can't run hard enough x-x

Graphic glitches for some reason scare me (for example while falling through the world, etc). :O

Definitely the Fel Reaver.
I was minding my own business in Hellfire one day, killing boars or something. And suddenly I feel the ground shake and think that its probably somewhere around in the distance... I spin my camera around and look behind me and all I see are two HUGE metal feet filling my screen.
I think I actually let out and audible terrified squeak, and I was promptly smashed into the ground.

I get that to, WoW being one of the best cases. Some glitches just terrify me.

My scariest moments were before I switched to keybinds... basically any time I fell off a cliff and couldn't find my mage's slowfall key -_-
You go to raiding.
Before first boss, yellow text pops up in the chat log.
"Your account time expires in 30 minutes."
Scariest shiz that ever can happen.
This happened to me just before Marrowgar... lol

Hah, I was levitating off of the cliffs behind the argent tourney grounds on my priest when the Dungeon Finder found me a group. I accepted and cleared out VH, and then I came back.
Except I was no longer levitating.
I had a new UI that I wasn't yet use to and start to panic looking for my levitate button and found it just in the nick of time.
Now that I think about it, I'd've landed in water anyways lol.
Rofl nice I have had those ported back to mid air moments a lot... even today I'd say my chances of surviving a short but deadly fall after a heroic are about 40/60. :p
