Here's an excellent guide to Arms pvp gearing by Kramp that'll answer most of your questions.
I don't have any experience with hunters to cmment on Korthan's situation though.
I feel fuzzy inside.
On a more serious note, liking your armory would help a lot.
If you are still on the way to complete your PvP set ( collecting honor, money or frost badges ), make a profile on how you see your gear before you start "serious PvP" ( like a high rated arena team ).

You need arena points to buy the mainset Relentless gear.
Furthermore, that guide was iffy-you don't pick up a mace as a warrior- axes ftw. It should be noted that most warriors run with the BS leggings, bracers, and boots. From there its all PvP gear excluding the Ashen Band ring and a trinket of your choice.
(Byrntol is a bad warrior weapon for both PvE and PvP just a lil side note as a warrior)
The guys at arenajunkies disagree with you about Byrntol....

God, do I hate these kind of answers.
"Axe ftw." Ok but why ? Yes, axe offers a better rage generation and slightly higher deep wounds ticks.
But mace offers the opportunity to use some strength with an ArP soft cap or to reach a higher ArP cap.
My guide is not saying that mace is better. It's offering different gear options ( for axe and mace spec ).
Oh and Bryntroll is a great weapon. Yes, the proc was nerfed but we are talking about an axe with high strenght/stam, excellent damage range and 2 sockets.
I would'nt trade it for Shadow's Edge but Bryn is an excellent choice before t1.
