The only thing remotely difficult about this achievement was returning the flag in WSG. I had to have my bf help me on his retadin, cause I couldn't kill flag carriers alone as a healer. And if I was in a group that killed one I couldn't click on the flag fast enough because of my European latency. Other than that got everything first try. And I'm not some 1500 resilience arena freak.
Cannot believe this achievement is causing as much crying as it did last year. We've been over this, haven't we? And there's probably a reason they didn't remove it from meta, even after all the whining last year. God forbid you might have to pay attention and try a little harder than plucking eggs from the ground.

You mean, you remember last year? After all, achievements have only been around since Wrath was released, and that was November of 2008; we've only had one complete cycle of holiday achievements so far.
Achivements (including holiday ones) were out before Wrath. (Patch 3.0)
I apologize, didn't realize they were dropped in the pre-patch. However, we've still only had one full holiday cycle.
And the fact that they've been dumbed down since that short amount of time shows that if people show up in droves and cry about something Blizzard will cater to them.
Or perhaps that the complaints from their player base made them review the achievements, and they agreed that they were too stringent? It's not really a fact - simply your opinion. You consider it "dumbing down" because you disagree with it.
And again, this is coming from someone who has had his drake on his main since before most of the achievements were changed, and who got School of Hard Knocks on his Shaman this year just for kicks.
Besides experiencing the whole game isn't a bad thing. And I think that's all Blizzard is trying to do here.
If they simply wanted people to experience PvP, then the achievement could have just as easily been, "Win the following four battlegrounds while your orphan is present."
Edited to remove unnecessary snarkiness; my apologies.

They may require you to change your tactics or do something you're not comfortable doing, but what about all the PVE achievements where you have to kill bosses in a more difficult fashion? What about hard modes? Just because it's difficult doesn't mean it should go away.
I don't think they should go away. However, here's my line of thought:
The violet proto-drake has long been seen as the 310% mount achievable by the casual player - the player who doesn't like to PvP or can't stand arena, or who doesn't have the ability to get into raids to get the harder achievement-based mounts. It didn't require any hard modes in PvE, but still took some dedication in PvE to get the mount; other than this one achievement, the PvP achievements were pretty generalized.
I guess my complaint isn't about the achievement, but more about the turning-off to PvP of some people. Again I point to my roommate, who had just started battlegrounds on his own before the holiday, and who now has no desire to go back into a battleground at all.
As a compromise, what if they had two sets of achievements - one for PvP and one for PvE - for each holiday - and two different titles/mounts based on which series you completed? I'd see it as a win/win - I'd get both of 'em!
But yet I can see the fun in it and think other people should at least give it a shot before calling for nerfs. And yes, by "shot" I mean trying it more then a few times then calling for a nerf. Afterall you have to learn to crawl before you can run.
Again, there are folks out there who literally have no desire whatsoever to PvP. None. Period. For them, it isn't a matter of "trying it a few times". They won't like it, ever, in any way, shape, or form. I'm glad that you're learning to enjoy it; at the same time, understand that there
are
players out there who do not, nor will they ever, enjoy PvP at all.

That this achievement is a massive PITA, and shouldn't count towards the Meta.
So achievements should just be given to players?
I say keep the acheivement the way it is. I remember when you actually had to work to complete meta achivements for the holiday festivals... now they're dumbing them down to be a joke...
*cough cough*
Noble Garden
*cough*cough*
Perserverence pays off... and in this acheivement it pays in spades. Just keep at it and I guarantee you'll get it.
People tend to stay away from BGs or PVP in general because... they lose at them. Give them some resilience and bam you'll find that they love them. Besides... BGs are usually seizures of players with no coordination. Get a bunch of people together... and coordinate something. You'll find that even 5 people, who are working together, can have a very large impact on a BG... even one the size of AV.
I never said it should be given to us; I'm just saying, for those who dislike PVP, or have a class that isn't the best for pvp(healers of some type), these can be a pain to get, not to mention the 'casuals' in the BG &*!@ off the actual pvp'ers. I've gotten School of Hard knocks on two of my 80 achieve !@#$%s, and it was pure luck to get the Cap the Eye Flag for both of them; got lucky in AB and AV as the Horde was helping, and there were still !@#$heads attacking the Horde Players who were helping us.

We can all agree on the fact that the majority of the people participating in Children's Week, and all these Holiday style events, are people going for their Violet Proto Drake. The School of Hard Knocks is ONE of FOUR Achievements that requires players to do PvP in order to get the Meta. (And the
Winter Veil
and
Halloween
ones are a joke. Just AFK WG and you get it yippie! The
Love
one doesn't even force you to actually PvP just swim up to the back of BS and drop the dummie, wait 10 seconds and /afk- real hard.)
So my advice? Stop crying and join a premade. It's that easy. I'm sorry PvP isn't for everyone but so isn't running around Azeroth looking for eggs and throwing dumb pumpkins at Female Dwarf Rogues.

To those people i'd hand them this
book
It's a decent metaphor - except the book leaves out the millions of people who have tried green eggs and ham and hated it, or who were allergic to green eggs and ham.
Of course, that's been pointed out to you several times, so I can only assume at this point that you're active in promoting your ignorance of reality (in that there really are people who will not ever enjoy PvP), so I'll just bid you good day.
