Keylogged*
And yes, ofcourse you can.

I would say yes, because that means your password is saved to a file somewhere. That's never a good idea.

It would help prevent you from being keylogged (assuming you type it into a file before a keylogger got into your system), but now you're password is left unencrypted in some file (probably named something obvious and not hidden in your file system) that someone can find and still access your account.

It's an effectual solution, but only if the file in question has some sort of method for hiding the password, like in a massive wall 'o text of random words.

One thing to note - and perhaps it's an urban legend, but I'm not sure: Some keyloggers also build in a clipboard grabber.
If your computer doesn't have security that blocks applications from accessing your clipboard, the malware can record any copy-paste you do; it wouldn't be too difficult to have this option triggered when you open the target application.
It isn't foolproof - but no method is. But I could see it being useful to beat the less-sophisticated (and I think this would be the majority of) keyloggers out there.

Rejoyce, this method works against
most
keyloggers and is a very uncommon method of guarding your password. Kudos to you for using this method :)

will provide another hurdle a would-be hacker would have to jump to seize control of your account.
So long as the file is buried in the file system and is not called something similar to "WoW Password." Copy-pasting your password can defeat
SOME
keyloggers, but
MOST
can read your clipboard anyway. You'll defeat only the weakest keyloggers with a copy-paste.
It isn't foolproof - but no method is.
Bingo.
All security measures are meant to buy time or frustrate the criminal, not keep them out. If a security device worked to keep everyone out in every situation, how would someone ever get to what's inside?
Edit: Oh, and this isn't a bad idea for burying your password either:

A whole file full of garbage like that (and I mean FULL, like a few megabytes full) with an 8-character password tucked somewhere inside isn't a bad idea.
