so i've tried healbot and xperl
i haven't tried grid yet and will probably take a look at it later today when i get home. I like the bars and the colour change for debuffs on healbot. However i don't like having my heals binded to shift+rightclick, shift+leftclick, etc. is there a way to set healbot so you can click the bars to target the player or does anyone know a different addon?
i liked xperl but the 5man party ui had more in it then i wanted. i just pretty much wanted the healthbar with hot tracking, and some form of curable debuff notifier would be nice. it's got some nice customization but certain things couldn't be changed

Slightly OT, but getting a good mouse with a good number of programmable buttons is (IMO) key to playing well.

sigh i guess i'll try to look at the addons again and see if i can customize it the way i want. changing my healing style to fit the UI isn't what i'd like to do. and though mouseover macros are nice i don't prefer them. mainly because i like to target the player i'm healing in case i need to move around and heal.
Good unit frame addons should in my opinion do only three things. Filter, prioritize and display information related to the units in a raid. Those three things should of course be highly configurable so that you can make the addon display the information you find most important in the most visible manner and at the right time.
this is basically all i'm really looking for honestly. i normally just use standard blizzard UI. My keybindings aren't standard by any means and i use a good amount of macros. no mouseover macros because i don't prefer that style. Healbot's bars are nice because tracking hots, player health and debuffs is really easy. however because i don't like the mouseover style or binding my keys to shift+rightclick and would much rather use my current hotkey/hotbar setup to heal and use the addon to track player health, hots, and debuffs.

I am the same way. I've tried many unit frames, raid frames, etc. The only thing I came up with is using Healbot and just binding left click to target. I still use other clicks though for debuff removing and emergency heals.

I will bet you 3 internets that the vast majority of the best healers in the best guilds in the world do NOT have Nagas or similar
mouses
mice. (Engrish difficult)

I would take that bet! Most of the best healers in the best guilds in the world are sponsored...by peripherals companies. They probably have mice with at least one side button. For that matter I don't even see that many off brand mice without multiple buttons anymore but there are some cheapies without and certainly it's harder to find multi-button mice for laptops which is usually where i see heals with 2buttoners.

this may be a stupid question but isn't there a way to have mouseover only active on your unitframes?
