I believe they will just issue a Name Change to the guild master... Unless it was more than just an offensive name... Only time i hear they disband guilds is when the guild has been part of gold-farming or inappropriate behavior.

Then why is Goon Squad still active?
I can not answer that, because i know nothing about "Goon Squad"... All i know from your quesion is the name of the guild, which does not look or sound offensive. You will have to be a little more specific.

some of the crap they pulled back in the days...
Like summoning randomly invited players up to the waterfall off the edge of felwood, so the hapless victim would spawn in thin air and slide down the cliff-face and squish in Darshore, forcing them to eat a 15 minute ress sickness debuff and big durability hit on all gear, or else corpserun through most of darkshore, ashenvale and then back up felwood again.
Har-de-effin'-har.
Some of the gooners reportedly got banned for pulling that stunt on a bunch of people. Good riddance too...
My guild did something better. They summoned people off one of the highest floating islands in Nagrand, just so they could fall non stop helplessly to their deaths.

For those of you who don't want to click on links, they have over 1800
accounts
. I've heard doing a /who for the guild name while playing will cause your system to crash... even at non-peak hours.
/who will only return up to 49 results, IIRC. You would get a random sampling of the guild based on that information. Example: /who 80
Though I wouldn't doubt that they haven't added implementation to handle a lot of the largest guilds server-side. Could be true :P
I do not see how this would even be technically possible. Your computer does not process that information. When you run a /who command, it sends the command to the server. The server processes the command and returns the results. Because only 59 results are processed, it would be impossible to crash the system. The worst that will happen is the server will log you out. That is because of security against spammers, whom search the /who command.

Your guild name reported to a gm and was deemed against policy, so it was changed.
Whether you get to rename depends on the offending name, and other factors.

Usually the guild master is sent a mail informing them of the reason the guild was renamed, the guild will be given a horrible RP name ("Defenders of Undercity", "Horde defenders" or similar), and the guild master is informed that they can contact a game master within a week to have the guild renamed something less terrible. Of course, if the guild master fails to submit a ticket, the guild is stuck with the terrible name, and renaming it will require a reform.
