This specific forum happens to be a debate and game forum, not video game.I'm assuming what now?
You're assuming that I know the full purpose. I was stating a couple things the forum is about, not all of them.
Besides, while I can't know fully, I can have a pretty good picture of what it is.No, you were saying this is a debate and game forum.
Don't backpeddal.
1) I was correcting you. I never stated I know the full purpose.

Let me explain. You never see threads about WoW here, you see forum games and debates. This is why I posted that. I conjecture that that is what the forum is about.
You said you don't learn about English from reading and writing.
You can learn about the language from reading and writing, but the purpose of reading and writing isn't to teachy ou the English language, or I'd have stopped reading years ago.

Why is it so difficult to admit you were wrong?
Ask yourself this question.
Anyways, simple answer is: I was half wrong. I didn't take the time and effort to fully explain myself, but after I did explain you didn't take that into consideration.
The purpose is to become more sophisticated in the usage of style unique to the English language hence learning poetry, prose, imagery, alliteration, etc.
The purpose of writing is to entertain, make money and transfer information. The whole purpose of writing and reading isn't to make you more sophisticated. Although that is a side effect to be sure.

You have a really short attention span. The purpose of reading and writing in the classroom is to make you a better reader and writer of English, not for your entertainment.
Insults already? You never said in the classroom
in your earlier statements. You merely said that the whole point of reading/writing was to increase your skills in English.

Anyways, I suspect this thread will be closed because it's veered off-topic. But only here would we expect a forum called "randomness" to be ruled with such strict guidelines. So ironic.
Just because it's randomness, doesn't mean people can just spout gibberish all the time.

i suggest we lock this thread for two reasons.
1) We succeded our purpose. Elaus seems rehabilitated and an active, interesting and healthy part of this community
2) It has derailed
I say we call it a success and let it die, ok?
I felt this sentiment a few pages ago.
Beating a dead horse.

While I'm also of the opinion that this thread's done, I'd like to apologize to Elaus for judging him. Although I don't think I attacked him that much, like, say, MyTie. =P
Also pimphustle, the moderators do a good job of keeping this forum from becoming a cesspool.
If you want less moderation, go to /b/ or something
.
This.

No I did not. Where did I say the whole point of reading and writing was to increase your skills in English. Quote me. We were talking about English classes this entire time. When did you decide to start talking about something else?
