Depends on the instance; in UP you can technically skip past the Val'kyr and the Gauntlet, killing only the Blue Drake rider and the King.... but doing so, skipping two fights that last for a minute is a dumb idea as that nets you more emblems. Same as OK; killing the mushroom boss and the Cultist boss is an extra five minutes at most. The only one it makes sense to skip bosses for is possible Halls of Stone; as that place is just pure evil.

So the question is, is it more efficient to skip bosses?Yes, it is more efficient to skip, and no most people don't seem to know that.
If they want to do a optional boss for an achievement, or a blue gear drop, which are really the only two reasons to do so, or even for less efficient emblem farming, then they should form their own group beforehand to do them and not queue solo.
Common sense would dictate as much, as it is the only way to ensure that optional boss they want is even still alive. Common courtesy dictates they should form their own group of likeminded individuals beforehand as well, instead of expecting 4 random strangers to go out of their way for nothing.
Ironically many don't and then they whine to GMs and in forums about the problems they themselves cause.

It's actually possible to go straight to the last boss in the Old Kingdom. And while it may be more efficient it's also extremely boring. It also means more Queue time in that hour while having to listen to the mind numbing dribble that is Trade. I realize that you could leave it but if you have a profession you may want to be in Trade.

If you are farming triumph emblems, it is more efficient to form your own farming group and avoid the queue entirely whether you skip the optional bosses or not.

I'd say it's common courtesy to not skip any bosses unless everyone is on-board with it since you signed up the whole instance. I don't mind skipping since I mostly do it for the frost emblems, but if anyone in my party wants to do the other bosses for the triumphs then I start pulling in that direction. I've got no right to decide that he should skip any bosses when I signed up for the instance.
And it's faster to farm triumphs by doing all the bosses if you're signing as dps since the queue is much longer. Depends on the instance though.
10min queue and 10min dungeon for 4 triumph versus 10min queue and 15min dungeon for 6 triumph.

If the person that wanted to do the optional boss wasn't queueing solo and expecting 4 random strangers to help him, then no one in the group would be put into the position of having to decide in the first place. We all formed our own groups when we wanted to farm those optional bosses for their drops or achievements, why should we now waste our time and go out of our way to help a random stranger from another realm do them that is too lazy to form his own group too?
Besides, if he wants to do the optional bosses then obviously he should form his own group as it is the only way to ensure he doesn't get a partially cleared run where that boss is already dead.

10min queue and 10min dungeon for 4 triumph versus 10min queue and 15min dungeon for 6 triumph.Again, and especially for DPS, it is far better to form your own group first and avoid the queue entirely, whether you choose to farm more efficiently by skipping bosses or not.

I think there was a thread on this a while back, but the consensus was basically, if you're a tank/healer you're probably better off skipping bosses and finishing as fast as possible, since you have instant or near-instant queues. If you're DPS, you're almost always better off doing full clears, since queuing as DPS often means waiting 20-30 minutes.

I think people are a bit spoiled really. I am a tank, been a tank since tbc beginning(was healer whole vanilla), the whining in lfd if you do an extra boss like in Heroic OK is amazing. People will start $%^&*ing and freak out if i take mushroom dude and the cultist leader orc. Luckily as a tank so long i grown alot of backbone and due the fact i am capable to lead a totc 25 man succesfully(in my opinion the worst grp to lead due people seems to be selfish brats often and will be angry alot if you do give anything to anyone even if they win, icc25 man pugs seems to be more nice and friendly players).
So if they start !@#$%ing i will just go to boss and if they do not take the hint, i just state i am the tank. I lead the grp, if you wanna skip bosses who takes a min or so to do. Become a tank and stfu pls, I lead the grp succesfully and fast so far. I am not here to entertain you, i want the badges for various gems or heirlooms gear. If you do not like it mister dps, leave and be a sour loser.
Most people seems to stay, and i have never been kicked for that. Even if i would get a kick, i file it under spoiled brats category and do a new heroic queue.

Stop saying "we" and try to make it sound like your view is universal. People sign up for groups for all sorts of reasons, not just whatever reason you personally have..
- some people might be there just to get the 2 frost emblems
- some might be there because they want as many triumphs as possible
- some might be there for a certain boss drop
- some might be doing part of a quest line (FoS, PoS, HoR for instance)
The LFD tool doesn't dictate that one of those options has more merit than the others, so get of your high horse and stop claiming that anyone expecting different than you should form their own group. In fact by using the LFD tool you agreed to be part of a random group so you have to be prepared to be part of whatever random purpose the group ends up with. If you only want to participate in a specific scenario, YOU should form a group dedicated to that specific purpose rather than joining a random group and insist they all break to your will.It isn't my being on a high horse that dictates that they should form their own group first, it is simple common sense. That is the only way they can ensure they don't get put into a partially cleared run where the optional boss they want to kill is dead already.
Personally I'm just there for the frost emblems, but if anyone wants to do all the bosses I'll take their side because I remember how annoying it used to be when I needed the triumphs and signed up for a 30 minute queue and then getting a group that skipped 2-3 bosses..If you wanted triumphs as a DPS it would have been much faster to form your own group beforehand and avoid the queue entirely, whether you chose to farm them more efficiently by skipping optional bosses or not.
Regardless it is most amusing how you guys cause the very problem you get upset about by expecting those of us that formed our own groups to do those bosses and now no longer need achievements or quests or blue gear drops from them to waste our time helping you, a random stranger too lazy to do the same.

Ummm...no...it tells you if the instance is in progress or not.
And for all you people who keep saying form your own group, that's not always possible, which is why the queue exists in the first place. Yes, we all understand what your saying. No, it doesn't help the issue.
But the answer has been given: if you have queue times of greater than 5 or so minutes, skipping the bosses is not more efficient.
