excellent topic on the subject:
http://www.mmo-champion.com/general-discussions-22/warcraft-raiding-has-not-become-easier/msg2161024/?topicseen#new
read the first post, this guy really knows what he is talking about and draws a lot of accurate conclusions.
No one should continue commenting without reading this post
and the comments. The original post and a few comments on the first page in the linked topic cover pretty much everything that can be said about the state of WoW raiding.
That's all I'm going to say, everything that needs to be said has been in the MMO Champion topic.

IMO Sarth is not soloable for 3.3 patch. I've seen Raegwyn's video on U-Tube and I can say something about.
1. quality of the video is awful, Fraps or other program can make video of much better quality.
2. too much healing, he was healed even when his runes were on cooldowns and he couldn't use DS or RT or Blood Mark to heal and his ghoul stayed alive. also he could use healing potion only one time per combat so there was a healer who was hidden on the minimap, you can do this easily. I can believe he had enough DPS but he couldn't kill Sarth solo without a healer.
3. I've done full Kara and Kel'Thas solo with my Blood tanking spec (48-8-15) and it's much easier than Sarth for tank but sometimes I was near one-shot hit because of CD of my runes and CD for Ghoul so I couldn't heal myself for 3-4 sec almost every minute. if you have seen his video you can remember that his HP wasn't under 20% during all combat. it's almost impossible if you don't have Will of Necropolis in Blood and he doesn't have.
also you can find much more reasons to say that his video is a forgery. I told about only 3 of them that can make you think about. you can fabricate any video of this kind even with Windows Movie Maker and Fraps.
You necro'd a pointless, redundant thread. Thanks.

Work on your achievements.
Another waste of pixels.
One man's waste of pixels is another man's reason for playing.

I read the first couple pages of this and cannot take anymore. Here are my thoughts on the topic (as a veteran --read: AQ 40 and MC-- Vanilla player).
"Gearing up" as the OP puts it, in reference to what that particular phrase meant in Vanilla and BC, is no easier. Getting full epics? Yes, that is easy. It used to be when you saw someone in full epics back in Vanilla, there was a "WHOAAAA" reaction from 90% of the players in the vicinity. Crowds would gather. I am not exaggerating. Epics used to mean something. Now...well, I think you all know how easy they are to get now. "Gearing up" used to mean that you had BiS gear. Now people use the term to mean "HEY BRAH IM IN FULL EPIKZ IMBA" so of course there are going to be people who say the game is too easy. Getting BiS gear is no easier than it ever was, except perhaps that your chances are 1/25 as opposed to 1/40. In that sense, gearing up is no easier than it ever was.
As far as leveling...yes, the game is
faster
but that does not necessarily mean that it is easier. There are certain things that have indeed made the leveling process easier, but they were long past due. A few examples...the "cave" or similar place in each starting area is now full of neutral mobs, rather than hostile ones. You used to have to fight your way in, and fight your way out, thanks to respawns. Now you just run in and out. It's not really
that
much easier, because let's face it, everyone plowed through those mobs anyway. You just had to take your time. Now it saves time. Another example is the Mokk the Savage quest chain in StV. In Vanilla, the ONLY class that could solo the final quest was a 40+ (for plate) protection paladin with a shield spike and some mad skillzeh. Maaaaaybe a BM hunter if for some stupid reason they were loaded down with +healing gear. Now it's laughable.
So...Is getting full epics easier? Absolutely. Is getting BiS gear easier? Not by any noteworthy amount.
In addition, the WoW population continues to grow. With more people come more idiots. With more idiots come...well everyone knows at least one moron in-game. You know what I'm talking about. Basically, I would argue that in some cases getting good gear is harder...because there are so many people that 1) don't know what they're doing and don't care to try and correct their mistakes and 2) people that are #$%^&*!s for the sake of being @#$%^&*s. Which complicates the game (and thus the "gearing up" process) for everyone. I don't care what people say these days...if you're in a guild full of skilled, quality players free of moronic %^&*!@bags, I am jealous. Because the "Leeroy Jenkins" style player that was made so famous by that video was actually quite rare in Vanilla. They're everywhere now. If you don't believe that...it's because you are one. Don't even bother trying to deny it, acceptance is the first step to recovery. We all know it's true, just accept it.
A popular argument I hear people make for the game being too easy is the modifications to the mount system. Reg mounts at 20 for 5g, Epic mounts at 40, Flyers at 60. The entire point of this is to
speed up
the leveling process, not make it easier. All you save by avoiding all the mobs on the ground in Terrokar to kill the Avian bosses is time. Because the mobs weren't hard. It just took time to work your way to the towers, fight up the towers, kill the boss, and hopefully do it fast enough to get done before the respawns start popping back up. Now you just fly right up to the boss, dismount, kill him and his escorts, and fly away. Saves a lot of time. But it's no harder. The mobs weren't hard. If you did find them hard, there are 1 of 2 solutions...1) you are a fundamentally terribad player and should delete your account or 2) you should learn to read. You see the little numbers on your target's portrait? No? Oh, it's a skull? Yeah, that means that you're going to die. Come on people.
I hope this doesn't sound too much like a rant, because that certainly isn't how I meant for it to be taken.
TL;DR: Is the leveling process faster? Significantly. Easier? No. Is getting epics easier? Yes. Is getting BiS gear ("gearing up") easier? Hell no.
Go try AQ40 in a 40 man raid of all level 60s with Vanilla gear and specs changed to reflect a lack of BC and WotLK talents, then try ICC25 hardmode and tell me if you think WoW is too easy.
Yeah, that's what I thought.
